Basic Function Power Delivery – Power System Electricians are responsible for the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of high-voltage power system equipment used in our transmission and distribution system. Essential Function • An employee in this position will work under the direction of a supervisor or foreman as assigned. • May perform work functions individually or with the assistance of other foremen, linemen, head groundmen, groundmen, electrical mechanics, technicians, toolman, apprentices, etc. • Shall keep assigned tools and equipment clean and orderly with securing repairs and maintenance as required. • May be upgraded to foreman or assigned to other areas such as warehousing, transportation, line departments, etc., when required and if qualified as determined by supervision. • Employees placed in this classification, who have special qualifications in other crafts such as machine work, welding, carpentry, HVAC, etc., may be called upon to use such skills in the performance of their duties. Other Knowledge, Skills And Abilities • Work independently, be self-motivated, and exercise sound judgment. • Possess a working knowledge of electrical theory. • Possess a thorough working knowledge of the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of power system transformers, reclosers, circuit breakers, circuit switchers, capacitors, voltage regulators, meters, switches, and other substation electrical apparatuses and test equipment associated with transmission and distribution systems and substations. • Read and interpret transmission and distribution system maps, prints, drawings, procedures, and work order specifications. • Be qualified to safely and competently operate all transportation and power-operated equipment associated with electric shop construction and maintenance functions. • Knowledge and understanding Grant PUD’s Accident Prevention Manual and Switching and Clearance Policy by passing and maintaining Grant’s annual switching and clearance certification. • Write legibly, use a computer, and be able to maintain records, files, and fill out forms electronically. • Work with others, train apprentices and share knowledge of safety and trade. LETTER OF AGREEMENT - 74 IBEW Local 77/Public Utility District No. 2 of Grant County Power System Electrician -- Candidate Selection 02/02/2022 If no qualified internal candidates bid a Power System Electrician position, Grant PUD may select an external candidate who has worked as a Journeyman Electrical worker and place him/her in a 12-month training program to become a qualified Journeyman Power System Electrician. The pay scale will be equal to the last 2 six-month steps of the apprenticeship program. The utility has the option to start the Substation Electrician-in Training at a higher wage step based on experience, Electrician's license and Certifications. Current journeyman electrical worker internal to Grant will have their wage rate red-circled until they have completed their training program within the 12 months or less. Upon completion of their training, the workers wage will be set to current negotiated rate. No retroactive pay will be granted.
