SUMMARY: The person in this position performs basic troubleshooting and electrical repairs on all diesel-electric locomotive equipment. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Administration • Wire, maintain, repair, rebuild, inspect, and install electrical equipment, including but not limited to rheostats, control systems, transformers, motors, generators, electric lighting fixtures, cab heaters, batteries and their charging systems, speed recorders, air compressor controls, temperature switches, starters, axle generators, coils, contactors, relays, and governors • Be responsible for preventative maintenance on all electrical components • Troubleshoot and test single- and three-phase electrical systems on diesel-electric locomotives, including grounded components and wiring, high and low voltage, wheel slip, transition, and electrical load or no-load conditions • Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned • Ability to travel overnight if needed for training or company needs REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE: • Two years of relevant work experience • Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions, including electrical schematics REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS: • Associate degree in related subject matter • Diesel electrician training preferred • Four-year journeyman railroad electrician preferred • Valid driver’s license This position is employed by the specific entity set forth in the job posting. You will have the opportunity to Make Great Things Happen! • Maintain instrument and electronic systems and circuits including all types of electrical and electronic equipment such as communication systems, monitoring equipment, computerized production equipment, flame safe equipment, heating and air conditioning equipment, and measuring and testing equipment. • Adjust, calibrate, repair, and modify circuitry and components such as solenoid valves, starters, relay switches, P.C. boards, lighting, programmable controllers, and motors, as required. • Set up standard measuring and testing equipment to conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of electronic equipment and circuitry using instruments such as oscilloscopes, ammeters, vibration analyzers, tachometers, potentiometers, frequency meters, signal generators, ultrasonic testers, heat sensors, special recorders, digital multimeters, control circuits, optical gauges, PLC terminals, and test benches. • Check and record instrumentation data. • Lubricate and clean electrical equipment as required. • Secure parts and special tools from stores as needed. • Change belts and pulleys on motors. • Operate hoists, platforms, ladders, dollies, etc. as required. • Perform all jobs in a workmanship and safe manner, keeping work area and equipment clean and orderly. Ensure the continuous operation of production equipment by performing diagnostic testing and repairs on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. This role involves maintaining the integrity of all equipment and machinery for the thermoforming process. Key Responsibilities • Perform planned maintenance on all equipment and machinery to prevent electrical system failures. • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair/maintain equipment and machinery for the thermoforming process, including trim presses, extruders, formers, and grinders. • Modify new and existing equipment to improve performance and upgrade capabilities. • Achieve accurate and timely completion of paperwork. • Maintain a safe, clean, and tidy work environment in assigned areas.
