See More Details >>About the Role Under the direct supervision of Car Equipment Division Supervisor or Foreman, the incumbent performs skilled electrical work in the troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, diagnostics, and testing of a wide variety of electrical and electronic equipment on PATH fleet of railcars. Responsibilities • Some specific functions and duties of an Electrician at Car Equipment Division are: Troubleshoot, test, repair, rewire electrical and electronic equipment of the railcar subsystems such as traction control, HVAC, lighting, communications, auxiliary power supply, electronic signage, and all other electrical/electronic system/subsystems that make up the whole railcar. • Performs extensive fault log downloads from the railcar using computerized Portable Test Equipment (PTE) to conduct troubleshooting and repair of railcar failures/defects. • Performs removal, installation, assembly and disassembly of various railcar systems/subsystems; performs repair and overhaul of railcar equipment -away from the railcar- in Electrical Shop (i.e., bench-work) • Uses electrical and electronic test equipment for troubleshooting and repair of railcar defects/failures; cleans electrical and electronic assemblies/subassemblies including Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), equipment covers/enclosures, motors, and all parts/components associated with railcar systems. • Uses hand and power tools, both electrical and pneumatic in performance of above duties. • Work is performed in accordance with established service and maintenance procedures in effect in PATH, in conformance with FRA and OSHA rules and regulations.
