About the position Oil Capital Electric is expanding its operations and is in search of a skilled Electrical Journeyman to become a vital part of our team in Fort Smith, Arkansas. This position offers a unique opportunity for experienced professionals to engage in a variety of electrical tasks, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. As an Electrical Journeyman, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining electrical systems in both new constructions and renovation projects. Your expertise will be crucial in adhering to current electrical codes and regulations, ensuring that all installations pass inspection on the first attempt. In this role, you will work closely with the superintendent and other team members to coordinate tasks and ensure that projects are completed efficiently and safely. You will be expected to lead apprentices when necessary, providing guidance and support as they develop their skills. The position requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, including the installation of conduit, switch gear, panel boards, and various lighting fixtures. You will also be responsible for performing routine maintenance on electrical systems in commercial buildings, ensuring they operate effectively and safely. Responsibilities • Install conduit - EMT, rigid, PVC, etc. , • Pull wire - feeders, branch and service , • Install switch gear , • Install panel boards , • Site lighting - underground and pole lights , • Specialty items - generators, ATS, UPS and flywheel , • Layout, read drawings, organize materials , • Install lighting fixtures and other related devices , • Work with the superintendent as required , • Offload trucks and sort materials , • Lead apprentice as required , • Use tools such as hand bonders, hydraulic bonders, wire feeders, tuggers, etc. , • Perform routine maintenance of electrical systems in commercial buildings , • Install electrical systems in new construction and renovation properties , • Adhere to current rules and regulations related to electrical so that systems pass inspection the first time , • Maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to OCE and client safety standards and practices as well as legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns. Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent , • Minimum of three (3) years' experience as an electrical journeyman , • Available and willing to travel up to 100 miles for work , • Able to read prints and engineering specifications , • Knowledge of basic equipment functions as well as advanced electrical techniques, procedures and codes , • Knowledge of basic mathematics related to electrical work , • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record preferred , • Must have or be able to obtain an electrical journeyman's license in the state of Oklahoma. Job Description Summary The primary functions of the electrician include but are not limited to Installation of new electrical equipment, troubleshooting and ensuring quality repairs to plant equipment and electrical systems in a safe, efficient and productive manner and other duties as assigned.
