Position Summary: Under direct supervision of the Director of Facilities, troubleshoots and repairs electrical controls. Lays out and install new electrical service including panels, breakers, disconnect and switches. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED plus three (3) years’ experience as a maintenance electrician. Journeyman Electrician’s License required. Must meet all knowledge, skills and abilities. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. ABOUT THE JOB The Tepa Companies are seeking an Electrician who installs, connects, tests and sustains electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, and communications. In addition, an electrician figures layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools. Job Functions: • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. • Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring. • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender. • Pulls wiring through conduit, assisted by an electrician helper. • Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knives or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps. • Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools. • Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads. • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as an ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope. • Observe the functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. • Repairs faulty equipment or systems. • Cuts and welds steel structural members, using flame-cutting and welding equipment. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR • Journeyman Electrical License • NICET Certification • Working knowledge of methods, materials, and tools used in electrical distribution and transmission system maintenance work; Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and wiring systems and ability to apply this knowledge to work situations • Skill in the operation of the listed tools and equipment; Skill in the application of first aid methods including artificial respiration • Ability to follow proper methods, procedures, and safety precautions.
