Maintenance Electrician

Position Summary The Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, machinery, and equipment used in carpet manufacturing operations. This role ensures safe and efficient operation of all production equipment, supports facility electrical needs, and contributes to minimizing downtime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities • Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical wiring, circuits, panels, and control systems in accordance with NEC and company standards. • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems, carpet production machinery, HVAC, and plant utilities. • Diagnose and repair issues with motors, drives, sensors, PLCs, and automated systems used in carpet production lines. • Work with 480-volt electrical systems and ensure safe operation and compliance with regulations. • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Toshiba variable frequency drives (VFDs) and other industrial drive systems. • Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics for installation and repair work. • Work closely with production teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure smooth operations. • Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance performed. • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies. • Assist in equipment upgrades, electrical modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Support emergency repairs and be available for on-call support as required. Qualifications & Skills • High school diploma or GED required; Technical degree or certification in Electrical Technology preferred. • Valid electrician license (if required by state/local jurisdiction). • 3+ years of industrial or manufacturing electrician experience, preferably in textiles, carpet, or related industries. • Strong knowledge of AC/DC circuits, motors, relays, PLCs, and control systems. • Hands-on experience with 480-volt systems. • Experience with Toshiba drives (VFDs) is required. • Ability to read electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. • Familiarity with automation and industrial control systems a plus. • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail. • Strong commitment to safety practices in an industrial setting. • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varying plant conditions. Work Environment • Carpet manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, dust, and production noise. • Requires use of PPE (gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.). • May involve occasional overtime, weekends, or shift work depending on production needs.
