This is a full time position Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm and some Saturdays 8am to 12pm. Position: B Lineman - Overhead (Coastal EMC) Location: Cornelia Position Summary: The Class B Lineman - Overhead is a semi-skilled position involved in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. The role requires working at various locations, with potential travel to other states based on customer demands. Essential Functions: • Work safely during construction, maintenance, or repair of energized and de-energized overhead systems. • Set poles and anchors. • Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switch gear. • Troubleshoot primary and secondary systems. • Replace fuses in transformers and clear faulted circuits and systems. • Work with energized high voltage systems, requiring skill and caution to ensure safety. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools. • Perform other related tasks as needed. • Perform rigorous physical labor. • Identify primary and secondary voltages on circuits. • Understand induced voltage and how to use load buster tools. • Install and connect single-phase transformers. • Safely set poles and understand equipment setup and grounding. • Work at heights and in confined spaces. • Properly install and remove PPE and cover-up. • Check transformer voltages and tie in primary conductors. • Climb various structures and use appropriate tools. • Phase out lines with phasing sticks and obtain recloser shots. • Conduct pre-job or tailgate briefings effectively. • Perform reconductoring jobs safely. • Work live on high voltage lines when required. • Install and remove mechanical jumpers safely. • Work outdoors in various weather conditions. Minimum Requirements: • At least 5 years of recent field experience. • Effective communication skills in English. • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License permit within 60 days; CDL preferred. • Willingness to travel long distances and work in various locations. • Ability to lift over 50 lbs. • Inspect rubber goods and PPE properly. • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. Physical Demands: Regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands, and reach. Work Environment: Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, mechanical parts, vibration, and extreme conditions at outdoor job sites.
