Job Description: Position Title: Journeyman Maintenance Electrician Operating Company: Environmental Solutions Group – Heil Environmental Location: Fort Payne, AL Reports to: Facilities Manager Department: Facilities Maintenance Shift: 1st shift Position Summary: We are currently seeking a skilled Journeyman Maintenance Electrician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will oversee electrical installations, ensure compliance with safety regulations and the NEC, lead electrical outages, perform critical repairs, perform small electrical installations and maintain the highest standards of workmanship throughout all work performed. Roles and Key Responsibilities: • Oversee all electric and power installations in collaboration with The Facilities Manager, project managers and other engineering professionals. • Ensure all electrical work performed complies with the national, state, and local electrical codes and regulations. • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues safely and promptly. • Maintain records of all electrical equipment and ensure preventative maintenance schedules are upheld. • Provide leadership and training to apprentice electricians and helpers. • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed in compliance to NFPA 70E to prevent accidents and injuries. • Perform LOTO for planned electrical outages for additions to the electrical systems or removals. • Lead emergency electrical scenarios as they arise and resolve safely and promptly. • Perform small new installations of circuitry up to 480 volts. • Travel to ESG facilities and perform electrical work up to 25% of the time. Requirements: • Valid Journeyman Electrician's license in Alabama preferred but can be obtained within 6 months of hire. • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical projects within the Manufacturing industry. • Minimum 5 years of Industrial electrical installation experience involving switchgear, panelboards, branch circuitry and low voltage controls. • Minimum 2 years of experience operating switchgear and leading electrical outages. (Thermal imaging experience is a plus) • Experience in testing/troubleshooting/replacing breakers with digital trip units as well as ATS systems and UPS systems. • Proficient in 6,9 and 12 lead 3 phase motor connections, low and high voltage as well as troubleshooting motor controls. • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, safety standards, National electrical code and NFPA 70E. • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work and perform all work safely under pressure. • Proven leadership skills and experience in team management. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to read blueprints and technical diagrams. • A commitment to ethical conduct and safety. • Ability to pass the companies electrical aptitude test. Additional Requirements: Education: Requires a High School diploma or GED. Prefer: documented work history representing skill level. Knowledge: Requires ability to understand general arithmetic; ability to write in an understandable manner; understand verbal or written instructions; ability to read and understand instructions, lists and billing materials; use PC based applications, including Outlook, and Microsoft Office, knowledge normally acquired through high school or equivalent experience. Mental: Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently to operate machinery approximately 50% of time. Physical: Requires walking/standing approximately 70%, lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 15% of time; involves repetitive overhead work approximately 10% of time; involves repetitive stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 5% of time. Manual Dexterity: Requires use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting; use of hands and arms to operate all manufacturing equipment, meters, chains hoists, automatic drills, and general hand tools and to record written information. Audible Demands: Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to hear for safety purposes. Visual: Requires the ability to visually observe essential functions for satisfactory job performance and safety; color and depth perception required. Environmental: Involves exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.
