The electrician tests and repairs fire alarm systems, repairs electrical circuits and panels, trouble shoots electrical outages, coordinates power outages for construction purposes, repairs and services electrical motors and emergency generators, and provides a leadership role in emergency response and repairs for DSU. Maintains electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment by following proper procedures and helps maintain electrical service to the University. Check water well and tower for proper operation and record data daily. Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards. Inspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors, other problems or defects. Installs, repairs and services specialized electrical equipment and machinery. Repairs irrigation controllers and athletic scoreboards. Checks elevators and other hydraulic equipment. Qualifications Must be able to read, write, speak and understand oral and written instructions. High school diploma or GED required.
