Electrical Maintenance Technician

The City of Altoona, PA seeking qualified applicants for the position of Electrical Maintenance Technician within the Public Works Department. Applicants must be knowledgeable of the principles, practices, equipment, tools and hazards of the electrical trade. Additionally, applicants must be able to install, maintain and repair various electrical circuits; follow proper methods, procedures and safety precautions; locate and determine causes of malfunctioning wire systems; work at considerable heights; and interpret technical diagrams. Requirements Applicants must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, with three (3) years of electrical experience including work with communications and/or alarm systems. A valid state drivers’ license is also required and a Class "B" CDL is required within six months of hire. INTRODUCTION and WHAT YOU WILL DO (Job Responsibilities) General Scope of Job: Job consists of the responsibility to layout, install, and maintain a wide variety of electrical equipment as related to an industrial facility. Job Description: Necessary to the proper performance of the job is a thorough knowledge of electricity with the ability to read schematics and blueprints. Must be able to make electrical connections.
