Facilities Maintenance - Carpenter The Port of Port Angeles is currently hiring for the position of Facilities Maintenance-Carpenter. Interested internal candidates may pick up an application and job description at the Port Administration Office, 338 West First Street, Port Angeles, WA. Internal applications will be accepted through Monday, November 10, 2025. The starting wage for this position is $35.00 to $43.60 per hour (Range 21). POSITION SUMMARY; The Facilities Maintenance Carpenter position is a full time, International Longshoremen’s and Warehousemen’s Union Port Employees’ Unit Local 27 (ILWU Local 27) represented position that requires a thorough understanding of construction and maintenance practices, to include concrete forming and flat work, timber and steel framing, finish work (including case work and cabinetry), painting, drywall, insulation and roofing (comp and torch down). A background and understanding in marine construction and steel framing is a plus. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Five years’ experience as a journey level carpenter. - Ability to follow blueprints and building plans to meet code requirements. - Install structures and fixtures such as windows, doors, hardware and moldings. - Measure, cut and work with materials such as wood, plastic, drywall and fiberglass. - Construct building envelope including foundation, floors, walls, roof trusses and openings. - Construct structures plumb, level and square with the aid of measuring and leveling devices. - Inspect and replace damaged framework and other structures and fixtures. - Ability to safely operate power tools, but not limited to air compressor, nail gun, circular saws, drills, sanders, and grade laser. - Ability to safely work from ladders and elevated platforms such as scaffolding, scissors lifts and articulating boom lift. - Experience in developing detailed cost estimates from blueprints in all areas of construction required. - Ability to communicate and solve problems with various customers including Port tenants and outside contractors. - Experience ordering various supplies and dealing directly with vendors. - Experience in other areas such as tree cutting, heavy equipment operation, etc. Other testing may be required.
