Journeyman Carpenter

Primary Duties • Assist in the operation of the jobsite while ensuring that quality work is performed efficiently and safely. • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor. • Perform all work assigned by Superintendent and/or Foreman and Lead Journeyman. • Maintain a clean and safe jobsite, pick up tools and equipment and secure jobsite each day to eliminate potential hazards. • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.Perform at the highest level of customer service and safety in alignment with Abbott's core values. Carpenter - Facility Maintenance

Position Description The City of Seattle is seeking to hire two journeyman carpenters to perform carpentry work in the construction, maintenance, alteration, and repair of buildings, building equipment, and facilities. In this role you'll have the opportunity to perform a broad scope of facility maintenance work, including maintenance. repair, alteration and construction. These positions require work under the general direction of the Carpenter Crew Chief and within a team of 30+ members of skilled trades and administrative professionals. ABOUT US The Department of Finance and Administrative Services (FAS) is often the public's first interaction with the City of Seattle, operating as a customer-focused front door that assists with everything from paying utilities or reporting a pothole to requesting public information or even adopting a new pet. Read, track and input work orders in the City's work order management system. May perform work in other trade skills. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Three years of carpentry trade experience under the direction of a journey level carpenter OR Completion of an accepted carpentry apprenticeship program; and Valid Washington State driver's license or ability to obtain one by the start date. (Or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class.) You'll feel most prepared for this role you have a broad scope of journeyman maintenance carpentry and related trades knowledge and experience including locksmith experience, are able to diagnose issues and solve problems and have strong mechanical skills This skill level is typically gained through completion of apprenticeship program and at least three years of journey level experience. Desired : We hope you have ten (10) years of recent experience as a journey level Carpenter in maintenance or commercial construction. We hope that you have finish carpentry and cabinet making skills. You know how to use a smartphone for communication, email, texting, photos, Microsoft Teams, google maps, and for research. You are comfortable using a computer for email and for looking things up. Work Environment/Physical Demands This position requires full-time onsite work. Required to stand, walk or bend for extended periods of time. Required to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds. Work in confined spaces or at heights from ladders and scaffolds May require handling or working with toxic/hazardous substances. Required to work outdoors in all types of weather. Must comply with PPE standards and all safety guidelines. Must be able to read and interpret blueprints. May be called after-hours for emergency repairs. Additional Information This position is classified as a Classified Civil Service, regular, full-time. It is Civil Service represented, FLSA non-exempt and is eligible for overtime.
