Performs pipe welding primarily in a 1G position. Must pass a test in 6G position. Responsibilities: • Layout and fit pipe, offsets, bends, and radiuses. Assemble and install hangers, pipes, and fittings using couplings, clamps, flanges, bolts, pro press, soldering, brazing, and tack welding. Use a cutting torch to cut and bevel steel pipe • Performs pipe welding primarily in a 1G position. Must pass a test in 6G position. • Piping systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Refrigeration, Condensate, Steam, and Condenser Water piping • Understand installation of piping systems according to the contract drawings, shop drawings, and details • Keeps work area clean and in an orderly condition. Better yet, become one! CPI has an immediate need for a Welder in CPI's Georgetown, TX location. As a CPI Welder, you will occupy a key role in working with and for a company that builds the physical infrastructure that powers, protects and secures the world's digital technology. Day to day, you will, Under direct supervision set up and operates gas and electric welding equipment used in the manufacturing of metal cabinets. Responsible for meeting safety, quality and productivity expectations. Essential Functions: 1. Under supervision, sets up and operates different types of equipment used to weld metal cabinets and other related products. 2. Plans details of working procedure, tools, and material requirements. 3. Welds sheet metal using different welding positions (flat, overhead, vertical, etc.). 4. Cleans and prepares surfaces (including sanding) to be welded. 5. Uses cutting torch equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape. 6. Builds up worn or defective surfaces. 7. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly. 8. Works from blueprint, engineering specifications and production schedules. 9. Upon completion of welding operations, assists other areas as needed. Additional Functions: Continuously maintains a clean work area. Disposes of trash and production scrap. Assists in cleaning common areas. Performs other related duties, as assigned by management. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be knowledgeable of safe operating rules and procedures and demonstrate competence though written and practical application. Must wear all required personal protective equipment, especially eye protection due to the considerable glare emitted from work. Work involves: Varying degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable. Lift up to 50lbs. Occasional pushing/pulling of carts with loaded material Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when lifting, carrying, and manipulating lengthy materials (e.g. 10') Frequent stooping, bending, reaching, and working on structures of varying height and length. The Construction Technician will provide expert, journeyman-level work in the Commercial Refrigeration industry. Perform construction-type work such as welding, electrical, carpentry, and pipefitting in their specialized area. This work is performed in new construction and remodeling environments.
