QUALIFICATIONS • Must own Rig welding machine. • Candidate should have a minimum 2 years journeyman experience welding various types of materials. • Candidate should have a 1-2 years of experience as helper in the welding field. Dredge Welder

This position is accountable for welding aboard the dredges and vessels as assigned by the Deck Captain. Individuals in this position are knowledgeable of welding on equipment and various materials on dredge and vessel operations and perform a variety of duties to ensure safe and efficient marine operations. This position will typically work under close supervision of the Deck Captain. The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of Orion, which are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork most importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES • Works as assigned by the Deck Captain to perform assigned duties that are required for safe, efficient operation of the vessel. • Meets deadlines and specifications of welding projects on the dredge and vessels. • Assists in maintenance of equipment entailing, painting, and cleaning of the dredge, tenders, anchor barges, barges, and landing is needed. • Maintains safe and proper job procedures. • Handles lines to moor vessels or rig towing lines, as required. • Loads and unloads materials from vessels/barges and docks/trucks. • Performs all above duties in a safe and efficient manner observing all safety rules and regulations. • Participates in Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs. POSITION REQUIREMENTS A minimum of 2 years of experience in welding is required. Individuals in this position must have knowledge of all day-to-day operations required for barges and vessels. In addition, they must be able to properly and safely operate skiffs and vessels up to 36', including towing, docking, inspection and maintenance of these types of crafts. In addition, the incumbent must: • Be able to communicate effectively and work well with other crew members. • Be able to understand and follow specific directions from supervision. • Be able to submit to and successfully complete any specific safety or job training that may be required by the customer, the job and/or the contract with client. • Have the ability to work with close supervision and be capable of repeating tasks of short duration according to established operating procedures and work practices. • Be capable of working within standards of accuracy as dictated by the customer. • Ability to speak on a VHF radio in English and have a radio license. • Be able to abide by the safety rules and regulations of the Company or other regulatory agency. • Be able to work 12-hour shifts consisting of 2 weeks on and 1 week off. The Company expects and requires incumbent and each of its other employees to observe and fulfill the above and all other safety responsibilities and actively work toward maintaining a safe workplace. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation. The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD's), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done. The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise. In addition, the Dredge Welder must also be capable of: • Standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, reaching, sitting, and repetitive motions for long periods of time. • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work. • Climbing vertical ladders to heights of 40'-50'. • Working in confined spaces. • Working at elevated heights. • Lifting objects alone up to 50 lbs. as required. • Adapting to extreme temperature changes. • Adapting to outdoor conditions and prolonged exposure. • Remaining calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident. • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, life jacket, gloves, non-skid safety toed boots, welding hood.
