For more information on MIC, please visit: www.micgrp.com E-Beam Welder / Operator • 4-day Monday-Thursday schedule Responsibilities include: • Set up and Operate E-Beam welder using basic fixturing • Disassemble shielding and clean chambers on E-Beam welders • Perform basic maintenance, housekeeping and material handling tasks • Monitor the operation of vacuum equipment on the E-Beam welders • Properly perform routine filament change • Perform welding duties utilizing GTAW or GMAW processes • Display proficiency in joining high nickel alloys, aluminum alloys, and titanium alloys. • Read and understand blueprints, welding symbols per AWS A2.1, and GD&T per ASME Y14.5. • Knowledge of weld qualification requirements for ASME BPVC Section IX and AWS D1 is a plus. • Knowledge of ASME BPVC Section 2 is a plus. • CWI Licenses is a plus • Display proficiency utilizing measuring instruments such as tape measure, square, caliper, and protractor. • Knowledge and prior experience operating CNC machining a plus • Knowledge of GD&T tolerancing a plus. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years or more experience with operating an E-Beam Welding machine. Are you ready to move the world forward? Apply now. Essential Functions: • Uses GMAW process to tack weld various small components to round shafts to make a pole assembly for structural welds. The pole assembly generally consists of round shaft, butt plate, and/or other small parts • Manually position shaft for assembly. Uses crane for lifting various components. Frequently pushes, lifts, and pulls up to 50 pounds • Reads and interprets drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly. Locate and gather parts needed for assembly, from parts staging area that is staged by the Storeroom personnel • Read and interpret drawings to ensure proper location of various small part attachments • Uses plasma torch to cut steel. Utilizes jigs made at Valmont for cutting holes in shafts. Wears protective goggles or hood to protect eyes from harmful rays • Uses measuring tape, levels, squares, and angle finders to measure distances and angles. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses table to convert fractions to decimals, and decimals to fractions • Works in confined areas at various locations of the pole assembly line as necessary to accurately measure and assemble components described above. Moves under, around, and over poles as necessary, to get into proper position to assemble pole assembly • Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble product • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results • Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): • Must be able to read and write English • Ability to use common manufacturing math • Must pass GMAW rotational weld test and maintain certification • Ability to produce good welds. • Ability to read & interpret drawings, showing locations of holes & orientations. • Knowledge of safe working practices to prevent self-inflicting injuries & to prevent causing injuries to co-workers. Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED • 1+ years previous experience welding in an assembly environment • 1+ years previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment • 1+ years previous experience operating hand and/or power tools • The ability to accurately and honestly check one’s own work for quality assurance Working Environment and Physical Efforts: Work is typically performed in a manufacturing setting. The incumbent is regularly required to stand for extended periods of time. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working on the production floor and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the manufacturing site. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds in working with product. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Incumbent will also be exposed to production facilities where specific PPE will be required such as hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection. There will also be frequent exposure to outside elements for short periods of time. Being outside will also expose them to material handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks. A Brief Summary of This Position: The Small Parts Fitter role is responsible for interpreting drawings and making arms/small parts in accordance with the drawings. This process includes making sure that the proper parts are used, the pipe is cut the correct dimensions and formed according to established guidelines, and that a quality product is created as a result. Essential Functions: • Use shop mathematics; adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides decimals, fractions and calculates angles. • Read drawings, blueprints, specifications, and a variety of measuring instruments including tape measure, level and protractor • Fit a variety of parts to Valmont and/or Customer specifications and tolerances • Operate welding equipment to perform MIG and/or Flux Core welding to meet all applicable AWS and customer requirements • Use GMAW and/or FCAW processes to tack welding together assemblies consisting of components of various shapes, sizes, and weights. Read and interprets welding symbols • Read and interpret work orders and daily production schedules • Write entries on a daily production log to show work completed • Uses proper safety equipment and procedures • Be responsible for understanding proper use of all equipment in arms area and/or small parts, including but not limited to pipe saw, Peidrick pipe bender, arm bender, plasma, drills, welding equipment, welding positioner, cutting torch, jib cranes, deburr lathe, fitter jigs, etc… • Use motorized grinders, buffers, stone grinders, die grinders and drills to assemble parts according to prescribed specifications, codes, and drawings. • Perform visual inspections to identify material discrepancies to assure welds have been completed satisfactorily in compliance with applicable drawings and specifications • Use weld gauge to measure weld size • Frequently lifts, pushes, and pulls up to 50 pounds • Must be able to operate various forklifts and electric pallet jacks to move product • Operates jib crane or overhead crane to lift and position components exceeding 50 pounds • Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): • Must be able to read and write English • Ability to use common manufacturing math • 1 year experience reading and using blueprints • 1 year previous experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, and/or have graduated from an acceptable Technical Training Program focused in welding • Must pass GMAW and FCAW weld test and maintain certification Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications: • 2 years previous experience working in an assembly environment • 2 years previous experience working in a manufacturing or fabrication environment • 2 years previous experience operating hand and/or power tools • The ability to accurately and honestly check one’s own work for quality assurance • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results Working Environment and Physical Efforts: Ambient temperatures in work area coincide with seasonal weather changes.
