Manufacturing Welder - Night Shift

Job Summary: This position is responsible for performing basic manufacturing weld fabrications of various products or components. The MFG Welder 1’s primary purpose is to learn, develop, and gain experience as a Welder and receive on-the-job training (OJT) including: understanding drawings and blueprints, and adhere to standard procedures in the use of equipment when setting up parts, tack welding, stitch welding, and seal welding. Entry-level position – Generally has less than two years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job; works under immediate supervision. The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. Essential Functions • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission • Adheres to guidelines and procedures in setting up, tack/stitch weld subassemblies, and full product utilizing various tools and fixtures • Learns and performs how to interpret blueprints, drawings, and all welding processes through weld symbols and call outs • Learns and performs how to complete work orders, fabrication, and welding on product and their components • Learns and performs basic oxy/acetylene torch cutting and welding of multiple different welding processes • Performs in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) with job tasks and maintains consistency between work shifts and work areas • Transports material in area or between areas utilizing overhead crane, jibs, carts, magnets and other devices • Works as a member of the manufacturing team to provide high quality products that satisfy the customer (internal and external) and achieves departmental goals • Maintains the performance of equipment and work area through regular operator checks and maintenance resulting in operational equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition Operator Performed Maintenance (OPM and 5S) • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations • Communicates with team on established standard work variances on production line processes • Preforms quality inspections, complete reports, documents, and/or any other necessary paperwork, and enforces required rework prior to customer • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance • Performs other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities • Basic knowledge of weld equipment and dimensional tools, including their uses and maintenance • Basic knowledge of specification and drawing interpretations; e.g. drawings, blueprints and computers and the use of equipment needed to fabricate and perform in the task at hand • Basic knowledge with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems • Developing good work habits, accuracy and exceptional attention to detail and quality of work and awareness • Ability to develop technical skills to become a skilled qualified welder and fabricator to effectively perform assigned welding tasks • Ability to read, write, and understand information • Adaptable to changing schedules and exhibits time management skills • Ability to follow logical troubleshooting and standard operating procedures when performing welding fabrication • Ability to develop thinking and problem-solving skills to learn and understand Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process • Required to work as part of a team with a strong work ethic being dependable, reliable and honest with demonstrated integrity • Required to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in fabrication and welding • Required to be a self-starter and self-motivated with an exceptional safety record • Must complete Value Based Leadership training to include: • Values Based Leadership • Winning Together with DiSC Education And Experience • High school diploma or equivalent preferred • Two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience preferred • Basic Welding Certifications in the GMAW welding process in the 1-3 G/F positions preferred Supervisory Responsibilities None Travel • Valid Driver’s license required Physical Requirements • Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching • Constant movement and use of limbs, hands, this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath blocked and cribbed product • Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Work Environment • Requires wearing proper protective and safety equipment (PPE) • Regularly works indoors around moving equipment and exposed to flashes of light from welding, and loud noise levels; may be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water and high-speed rotating equipment • Possible exposure to minor burns and cuts – must be reported for proper treatment Disclaimer Please note that the above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this classification. Construction knowledge and ability to read and understand prints and assembly drawings a plus. Job scope includes metal building erection, handrails, fencing, and custom metal fabrication work.
