Your Day-to-Day The Senior Welding Engineer supports the development, implementation, and troubleshooting of welding-related requirements and activities for the fabrication, erection, and maintenance of nuclear power plants and associated facilities. • Reports to the Lead Engineer – Welding Technologies for day-to-day direction • Review contract, design, and regulatory requirements to develop project welding specifications. • Provide guidance to fabricators and construction personnel for compliance with project welding requirements. • Review supplier documentation including weld maps, detail drawings, PQRs and WPSs, and Welding Programs to ensure conformance with project requirements. • Interface with Global Supply Chain and Supplier Performance Engineering to support fab-follow activities for AP1000 systems, structures, and components. • Participate in constructability and design reviews for the development of Westinghouse technologies. • Interface with other Engineering disciplines to provide input to Engineering Specifications and associated change paper documentation. • Support the continued development of the WELD software package and associated PQR and WPS databases. • Provide input to estimates and proposals for welding-related activities. • Aid in the evaluation of weld failures and associate causal analyses. • Travel to suppliers and vendors for support of welding program activities, assisting vendors in welding related fabrication and technical issues, welding personnel qualification assistance, WPS qualification and documentation requirements. • Provide consultation, technical responses, and support for welding related questions and issues presented by ANI, Code, and Regulatory bodies, clients, and internal customers. • Provide support for the maintenance and development of the Westinghouse and Stone & Webster, LLC ASME Section III corporate certificate programs. Who You Are As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team: • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Welding Engineering Technology, or related field. • 5-10 years experience as a Welding Engineer or related position • 5+ years of nuclear-specific construction or fabrication experience in the power plant, shipbuilding, industrial process construction, maintenance, component repair & replacement, applied research and development, and/or manufacturing facility. • Strong working knowledge of AWS and ASME Codes including ASME Section II, III, V, XI, B31.1, B31.3 and AWS D1.1, D1.3, D1.4, D1.6, D9.1, D10.10. • Experience with CSA N299, W47.1, W59, RCC-M, NBIC, N690, AISC 341, AISC 360, and PCC-2 preferred. • Experience with the fabrication and erection of steel-concrete composite panels and modular construction techniques, including welding fit-up, tolerancing and distortion control. • Experience with the qualification of welders and welding procedures, including parameter development. • Familiarity with SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW welding processes. • Experience with laser welding and automated/robotic welding processes preferred. • Strong work knowledge of ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and Welding Program best practices. • Professional communications; both verbal and written are required. Ability to lead presentations for internal and external customers. • Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Other Job Requirements • Must be able to secure unescorted access authorization to plant site. • Must be able to physically perform the job duties including walking, climbing stairs/ladders, see and hear within legal limits. Preferred Additional Qualifications • Knowledge and experience with field machining and / or precision measurements for the installation of piping and equipment. • High level of knowledge related to implementation and use of electronic welding management or shop traveler system. • Participation or member of an ASME or AWS committee, sub-committee, or working group. 1st Shift Welder- Charlotte, NC

Job Summary: We are looking for skilled Welders and/or Fitters (knowledge of both is a plus) to cut and join metals and other materials at our Charlotte, NC facility. Shift Times: 1st: 5:00am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday 2nd: 4:00pm-2:00am, Monday-Friday Essential Job Functions 1. Perform FCAW (2G) welding. Be able to pass 2G test in FCAW on 1" thick coupon. Be able to pass 2G test in SMAW group 4 electrodes on 3/8" coupon. 2. Operate air arc to remove steel (back gouging). 3. Grind with 90° angle grinder. 4. Operate pendent controlled bridge crane safely and efficiently. 5. Read weld symbols and check weld size using weld fillet gauges. 6. Heat material to required temperature using temperature sticks and heating torch/cutting torch. (read and follow pre-heart & interpass temperature tables.) 7. Set machines according to procedure charts. 8. Use air chipper to chip of slag. 9. Use natural gas tube heaters to pre-heat steel. 10. Operate stud welder. 11. Follow weld procedures as it applies to volts, amps & wire feed speed. 12. Heat, straighten and be able to know when to use pre-heat to offset distortion. 13. Meet requirement of Class "C" and "B" welders with greater efficiency. 14. Perform other duties as required by management. Qualifications and Requirements Required: High school education or equivalent. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. over shoulder height. Be able to read blueprints. FCAW (2G) SMAW (2G). Be able to read weld symbols and be familiar with weld procedures. Must be familiar with WP1 (manual shielded metal arc welding of carbon steel) and WP2 (Flux cored are welding of carbon steel) and WP3 (Flux cored arc welding with gas shielding of carbon steel). Preferred: Two or more years' experience in manufacturing in the steel fabrication industry. Proficiency and use of Software, equipment, machines, tools, electronic device necessary for job: Air arc, 90° angle grinder, crane, heating torch, cutting torch.
