WELDER - EXPERIENCED

Summary : Welds metal component parts of various thicknesses to specified dimensions on simple jobs by performing the following duties Essential Duties: • Plans job by determining from the router and blueprints, equipment, fixtures, material and supplies needed. Plans sequence to maximize weld time. • Sets up job by retrieving equipment and materials as needed. • Loads and unloads pieces in and out of fixture (when available) manually or by using an overhead crane or hand fits parts. Positions and clamps pieces into fixture. Operates mig welding machine and may also perform arc welding procedures. • Finishes or repairs part by operating various tools such as sanders, grinders, and torches. • Performs first piece and in-process inspection by checking dimensions and quality of welds of part per blueprint using calipers, height gage, protractor, and square. • Performs routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs on welding machines as required. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Math Skills: : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Responsibilities: • Reading and Interpreting Blueprints: Understanding and following technical drawings and specifications to determine project requirements. • Fabrication and Welding: Cutting, shaping, and joining metal components using various welding methods. • Quality Control: Inspecting completed welds and fabricated parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. • Material Handling: Preparing materials for welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal. • Tool and Equipment Operation: Operating hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment effectively. • Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining accurate records of work completed and reporting any issues to management. • Safety Compliance: Following all safety protocols and regulations in the workplace.
