Job Summary: The Welder will perform these duties as outlined by the OneH2 work instructions, quality assurance procedures and assembly drawings. In-process inspections will be performed prior to completion of welding operations. Materials: 50% Low Carbon Steel & 50% Stainless Steel. Core Duties and Responsibilities: • Fabricate materials from blueprints and/or hand drawings using raw material. • MIG / TIG welding for Aluminum, Stainless Steel, and Cold Rolled Steel on Tubing and Sheet Metal. • Notifies Lead, Supervisor or Management of problems which affect the production/quality of parts. • Completes all assignments in a timely manner and meets production delivery schedules. • Set up pre-fitted parts for welding, use hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures. • Assuring all welding is performed and documented in compliance with all quality control policies. • Maintaining traceability requirements by completing required documentation. • Cleaning and maintaining welding equipment. • Adheres to all safety practices and reports any unsafe conditions, broken or malfunctioning equipment. • Assures all items on the inventory list are logged in. • Check parts and enters measurements on the First Article Inspection Report, when required. • Other duties as assigned. Skill and Qualifications: • 2 - 5+ years' experience in TIG & MIG welding. • In-depth knowledge and understanding of welding operations. • In-depth knowledge of product quality and welding specifications. • Ability to set up, operate, calibrate, and maintain assembly and welding equipment and tools. • Ability to recognize and address problems in the assembly process. Major Duties • Maintains and repairs dumpster boxes by welding, sandblasting and painting. • Constructs new bottoms for dumpster boxes. • Works after hours and during emergency events as necessary. • Rides with various equipment operators to collect solid waste. • Loads and unloads various materials. • Performs routine maintenance on equipment (i.e., greasing, checking air pressure, oil and other fluids) and informs appropriate personnel of necessary major repairs. • Loads and empties refuse, leaf and limb wastes, or recyclables into the truck. • Assists in maintenance of trucks and equipment to ensure fleet is properly cleaned, serviced, equipped and in proper operating condition before leaving on route. • Assists in washing vehicles and equipment. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Qualifications • Knowledge of residential refuse, leaf and limb, and recycling collection procedures and routes. • Knowledge of departmental and safety rules and regulations. • Knowledge of basic preventive maintenance techniques for equipment and vehicles. • Skill in oral communication. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. • Ability to read blue prints. • Ability to read tape measure, gauges and other measuring devices. • Welding certification preferred, ability to obtain welding certification will be considered. • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Supplemental Information PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, and crouching. The employee frequently lifts heavy objects. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed in a truck and outdoors. The work exposes the employee to much noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, contagious diseases, irritating chemicals, foul odors and inclement weather. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, ear protection, safety shoes, or gloves. SAFETY SENSITIVE: This position has been identified as safety-sensitive. The employee in this position will be part of a random drug testing pool. The methodology for choosing the random test subjects is handled by an outside, impartial, third party vendor. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY: None. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Crew Leader - Solid Waste assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with instructions and established procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results. GUIDELINES: Guidelines include departmental and safety rules and regulations, and supervisory instructions. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but require some interpretation in application. COMPLEXITY: The work consists of related duties. Inclement weather and equipment breakdowns contribute to the complexity of the work. SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this assignment is to assist in the collection, transport, and disposal of solid waste. Qualifications • Must be able to use calipers, micrometers, tape measure, industrial size hand tools. • Must be able to work in a team environment and take direction well. • Must be able to communicate effectively. • Must be able to read and interpret mechanical prints. • Must be able to do simple math (add, subtract, divide, and multiply.) • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. • Must have excellent attendance and work record. • Must have 1-2 years of production welding experience (MIG Welding) • Must be able to perform other duties as deemed by management.
