The job requires daily manufacturing responsibilities that are expected to be carried out with minimal supervision. Description of Structural Welder: • Fluxcore welding: cut, trim, fit, and fabricate metal components to dimensions • Collaborate with a lead welder to ensure that the proper weld procedure, type of material, and rod size are accurately assessed for each welding project • Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan welding operations where procedural information is unavailable • Make a continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment • Weld assembly and fabrication of various small to large-scale structures and assemblies • Effectively communicate with management/supervisors, engineering staff, and planners to achieve build efficiency • Modify repair, assemble, and install launch vehicles • Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure it is complete per drawing • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in an approved manner • Setup of safety equipment and work platforms at the elevation Preferred Skills for Structural Welder: • 2+ years of experience in welding with one or more of the following materials: stainless steel, carbon steel, Inconel, aluminum, or titanium • Experience welding structural steel members using (TIG) wire feed processes • Highly proficient in the tube (small and large diameter up to 6”) cutting grinding and fabrication • Proficient in blueprint reading and layout • Knowledge and experience completing welds that pass visual before being X-rayed or dye penned • Ability to pass a 3f and 4f weld test using the GTAW process on 3/8“ material Education/Training/Certifications: • This Position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED or related experience as a certified structural steel welder as determined by the plant manager. The individual should be familiar with and capable of using various types of welding equipment. A welder is also required to perform other miscellaneous tasks, as supervision deems necessary. • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, general arrangement and sub-component detail drawings • Maintain, repair, rebuild and fabricate parts when required for all types of industrial equipment • Performs preventive maintenance inspections, diagnose equipment problems and performs necessary repairs and reports findings to supervision • Performs MIG, arc and TIG welding, layout, and pipefitting functions • Full compliance with plant, state and federal safety regulations and general work rules. Use of proper lock-out procedure and personal protective equipment • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions • Examines weld for bead size and other specifications • Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes • Positions and clamps workpieces together or assembles them in jig or fixtures • Selects torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of material • Tacks assemblies together • Chip off excess weld, slag and spatter • Cleans or de-greases parts • Performs all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding • Be able to move parts in and move finished product out of welding area • Other duties as assigned Education A high school diploma or GED is required; military experience, trade or technical school preferred Experience & Skills • Certified Welder • Required to obtain a D14.1 certification at a G1-G4 position within 30 days after hire, If they have already obtained certification with a previous employer is does not apply in our facility.
