Must have a 6G Welding Certification Job Description Overview: The ideal candidate will have experience in welding and fabrication, including Stick, 6010, and 7018 up and downhill, with the ability to read blueprints and work independently. Pay is based on experience. Duties: • Assemble and fabricate metal structures and equipment. • Perform welding tasks using MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes. • Read and interpret blueprints to understand project specifications. • Utilize forklifts and other equipment as needed. • Conduct quality checks using micrometers and other tools. • Demonstrate mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and repairs. Requirements: • Proficiency in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and stick. • 5+ years of experience as a Journeyman Welder. • Experience with 6010 Stick downhill and 7018 Stick uphill (will be tested). • Will be tested on 6G X-Ray. • Experience working with carbon steel and stainless steel. • Experience in construction site welding is a plus. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations. • Familiarity with machining processes is advantageous. Qualifications • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Three years experience in railroad track construction and/or maintenance with two years experience as a track welder operating welding equipment used on railroad construction or maintenance work, including both field welding of rail ends using thermite reaction process and wire feed electric arc weld restoration of special trackwork and rail ends in an operating railroad environment. • Knowledge of the safe and proper procedures for operating this equipment and other specialized welding equipment; such as rail grinder, hand grinder, torches, crucibles, rail sheers, rail molds, etc. • Knowledge of the adjustment of thermal stress in continuously welded rail per 49 CFR Part 213.119 of the FTSS. • Must have qualifications or approval by an accredited certified welder in Ox/Acct, Gas Shield and Thermite Welding. • Company provides required Personal Protective Equipment including a Safety Boots Allowance Program.
