C&I Solar Technician II

DescriptionCAMS Solar Services, LLC is seeking to hire a Solar O&M Service Technician with knowledge in electrical systems within the Commercial and Industrial solar space. Our C&I Solar Service Technician II will be responsible for assisting with service calls, troubleshooting solar installations and electrical preventative maintenance, among other things. The candidate must have a strong safety mindset, an excellent work ethic, good communication and documenting skills, etc. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for assisting with preventative and corrective maintenance of Photovoltaic (PV) inverters, combiner boxes, solar panels, and other components.Responsible for the preventative maintenance of Battery Storage (BESS) units and MV interconnections.Able to assist with replacing/installing hardware, PV modules, inverters, monitoring equipment and any other component within the solar site.Assist with commissioning of equipment depending on degree of maintenance needed. Perform electrical testing using appropriate PPE and procedures. Understand the requirements for LOTO and to wear appropriate arc flash PPE required for the system being worked on Assist with preparing reports to comply with deliverables in O&M contracts In the performance of your duties, use equipment and resources in accordance with instructions provided by the company. Maintains adherence to Company policies, quality, environmental health and safety policies and good housekeeping practices. Carry out any other tasks delegated by the company. Must have flexibility to work during weekends and always be available on call. Occasional night shift work required.Attending training sessions on equipment as provided by the manufacturer and approved by the manager. Work alone outdoors, potentially in extreme weather conditions. Conduct routine site inspections for security, cleanliness, and note deficiencies Assist with Substation and Medium Voltage Equipment Inspections. Work at heights, in confined spaces, and possibly in awkward positions for extended periodsRequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED required.2+ years experience in PV system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.Ability to qualify per NESC, NEC, NFPA 70E standards to work up to Medium Voltage (MV).Strong organizational, analytical, and customer service skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, move safely confined spaces, and navigate uneven terrain.Must commute daily to project sites in New Jersey.Other Desirable Skills / Experience First Aid / CPR Certification Fall Protection Certification Lift / Forklift Certification NFPA 70E Certification OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Certification

This includes using blower doors, duct blasters, pressure pans, various ladders, combustion safety equipment, various hand tool and power tools to install insulation, energy conservation devices, duct sealing, caulking, air sealing, lighting, thermostats, CO detectors, and weather stripping, and make minor repairs to homes. Essential Job Functions • Conduct physical site assessments using a variety of equipment and tools including but not limited to; pressure diagnostic equipment, measuring devices, hand tools, various ladder types and sizes, blower door, combustion safety analysis equipment and protective equipment. • Install energy efficient upgrades in single family residential projects including but not limited to; insulation, pipe insulation, plumbing fixture aerators, duct sealing, air sealing, compact florescent light bulbs, and thermostat replacement. • Perform energy audit; produce pre and post reduction numbers from testing. • Prepare documentation of energy efficiency upgrades for upload to shared database and communicate results to homeowners, supervisors and contractors. • Maintain quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyze and resolve quality and customer service problems, identify trends and recommend system improvements. • Follow safety guidelines and bring attention to any potentially unsafe work environments. Education/Experience • High School Diploma or Equivalent. • BPI certification is a plus. • Experience in residential construction and/or maintenance industry preferred. • Proficiency with Google Workspace preferred, as well as a general disposition towards technology including the use of online platforms including DOE Energy Score, Dropbox, Salesforce (CRM) on various devices (laptop, tablet, and smart phone). • Availability to work some Saturdays. • Ability to lift thirty five pound (35lbs); the physical ability to work in tight areas, attics, crawl spaces, and hatch doors. Ability to work for periods in hot attics. • Ability to work with fiberglass, cellulose, foam, mastic, and caulk in a safe manner. • Ability to work clean and clean-up work site after completing each job.
