SOLAR PROJECT MANAGER

Position Description Solar Project Manager Job Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Solar Project Manager to lead and oversee solar energy projects from conception to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects within deadlines and budget constraints. The Solar Project Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, contractors, and clients to ensure the successful implementation of solar energy solutions. Responsibilities: Project Planning and Execution: • Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and budget requirements. • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project milestones are met. • Implement and manage project changes, ensuring adherence to project scope and objectives. Stakeholder Collaboration: • Work closely with internal teams, external vendors, and subcontractors to ensure effective communication and collaboration. • Liaise with clients, addressing concerns and providing regular project updates. • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and local authorities to ensure compliance with permits and regulations. Budget and Resource Management: • Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses and ensuring cost-effectiveness. • Allocate resources efficiently, ensuring optimal utilization and productivity. • Identify and mitigate risks that may impact project timelines and budget. Quality Control: • Implement and maintain quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle. • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications. • Address and resolve any issues affecting project quality promptly. Reporting and Documentation: • Generate regular progress reports for internal and external stakeholders. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including schedules, budgets, and project status reports. • Analyze project performance against key performance indicators and adjust strategies accordingly. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, renewable energy, project management, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification is a plus. • Proven experience in managing solar energy projects, from conception to completion. • Strong understanding of solar technologies, construction processes, and industry best practices. • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. • Knowledge of relevant regulations and permitting processes in the solar energy sector. • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office suite. Including site plans, mechanical racking and attachment plans, single-line electrical drawings, interconnection details, and labeling. • Perform project calculations, component sizing, and overall electrical design for residential solar PV systems. • Ensure projects comply with building codes, AHJ requirements, engineering best practices, safety codes, regulatory codes, and NEC standards. • Manage external engineering firm(s) responsible for producing engineering deliverables. • Maintain current knowledge of new technologies and contribute to the evaluation of product offerings. Qualifications • 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field • 3+ years’ experience in the solar PV industry, including project design • Proficiency in AutoCAD • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code, photovoltaic systems and construction practices • NABCEP PVIP certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire • Current P.E. or ability to obtain P.E. certification a plus Location and Benefits • Ability to work out of our Columbia, MD office is strongly preferred • Full Benefits Package including health, vision dental, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, 401k, and attractive PTO policy • Paid Training
