Mechanical Technician

This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems in all areas of the brewery. This is a Night Shift position with the working hours of 6pm-6am. Between the hours of 6pm-6am there is a $6.00 Shift Differential added to the base wage. Essential Duties: • Maintains, monitors, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical systems • Collects and analyzes test results • Research repair/replacement parts and installs equipment • Assists other mechanics when needed. • Other duties as assigned Education/ Experience/Skills: • High school diploma plus 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent • Basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, chemical handling skills and abilities • Basic working knowledge of building codes • Basic math and writing skills • Ability to be part of on-call mechanical program • Ability to read and interpret, instructions, policies, and regulations Percent of Travel: 0-10% Working Conditions: Distribution Center, Production Areas Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 80lbs. and carry objects weighing up to 47lbs up to 100 feet. • Ability to push/pull weights up to 75 lbs. and maintain the grip strength required to carry objects including buckets and boxes. • Must show fine motor dexterity. • Demonstrate their ability to climb stairs, stoop, crawl, twist, squat and reach overhead. • The position requires frequent, constant standing and walking. POSITION SUMMARY: The Mechanical Engineer I provides ground up mechanical support for product development and/or sustaining efforts. The role involves applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, and documentation of products and systems. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Works as part of a team, balancing time and scope to meet specification and scheduling demands. • Performs the design, analysis, and documentation of flouroptic thermometry designs. • Creates mechanical models/drawings to Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards and performs complex analyses of dimensional tolerance. • Ability to specify experiments and procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts. • Design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA); ability to minimize complexity, part count, incorporate “Poke Yoke” and achieve high levels of product manufacturability, testability, and serviceability. • Design products and subcomponents on supply chain typical manufacturing methods for sheet metal, machined parts, casting, molding, extruding, stamping, and 3D printing. WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Location: Fort Collins, Colorado • Environment: Works in standard office environment using general office equipment, as well as a noisy fast-paced lab. QUALIFICATIONS: • Proficient in SolidWorks including design and drawings. • Possesses a solid understanding of DFM and DFA; ability to minimize complexity, part count, incorporate Poke Yoke and achieve high levels of product manufacturability, testability, and serviceability. • Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and Tolerance Stackup Analysis. • Ability to develop assembly and inspection procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts with some guidance. • Ability to evaluate simulated and empirical data, understand error and uncertainty in both methods, correlate the data sets, and provide multiple solution paths for challenging problems. • Ability to self-manage project work from start to finish including conformance to scheduling and cost. • Working knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes. EXPERIENCE: • 0-2 years of related design experience in the development of electro-mechanical systems. • Expertise in the design, documentation, and maintenance of electro-mechanical parts and fasteners. • Excellent PC skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook (Microsoft Office). EDUCATION: • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar COMPENSATION: As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $62,500 to $87,500 per year. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Works as part of a team, balancing time and scope to meet specification and scheduling demands. • Performs the design, analysis, and documentation of cold plates, heat sinks, and other typical electronics cooling mechanisms. • Models and Design of heat transfer related to air and water cooled electronic systems, including performing tests to validate simulations/calculations including performing numerical analysis of fluid transport, conjugate heat transfer, structural mechanics, and/or coupled, electromagnetic-mechanical cases. • Creats mechanical models/drawings to Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards, and perfrom complex analyses of dimensional tolerance. • Ability to specify experiments and procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts. • Design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA); ability to minimize complexity, part count, incorporate Poke Yoke and achieve high levels of product manufacturability, testability and serviceability • Design product and sub components on supply chain typical manufacturing methods for sheet metal, machined parts, casting, molding, extruding, stamping, and 3D printing. WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Works in a standard office environment utilizing standard office equipment, a noisy fast-paced lab, and/or clean room. QUALIFICATIONS: • Must show advanced computer skills with CAD software, Solidworks or similar. • Possesses a solid understanding of design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA); ability to minimize complexity, part count, incorporate Poke Yoke and achieve high levels of product manufacturability, testability and serviceability. • Must have a a working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and Tolerance Stackup Analysis. • Knowledge of materials science, including nonlinear thermophysical behavior, materials compatability, metal alloying, corrosion, electron and heat transfer, and dielectric loss. • Experience with numerical analysis software, such as ANSYS, CFD-ACE+, COMSOL, etc. • Ability to specify experiments and procedures to prove, test, and monitor design concepts. • Ability to evaluate simulated and empirical data, understand error and uncertainty in both methods, correlate the data sets, and ultimately provide multiple solution paths for challenging problems. • Ability to self-manage project work from start to finish including conformance to scheduling and cost. • Fluent verbal and written communication in English and German desired. • C1 proficiency desired. EXPERIENCE: • 2+ years of related design experience in the development of electronic systems EDUCATION: • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar • Masters Degree or Ph.D Mechanical Engineering concentration desired COMPENSATION: As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. The range of starting pay for this role is $75k to $115k per year.
