HDR is looking for a Mechanical BIM Specialist to join our Building Engineering Services team in Denver, Colorado. Our team is looking for a candidate to meet the demands of our client base including Science and Technology, Mission Critical and Commercial projects. We are actively seeking candidates with experience within the mission critical environment. This individual should also have a desire to mentor and train younger mechanical designers. The Mechanical BIM Specialist will be responsible for leading the creation of construction documents along with a fully coordinated BIM model from start to finish. This will include coordinating and working closely with clients, project managers, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, and all other team members. They will be responsible for developing construction documents and BIM Models. Passion, self-motivation, and strong leadership skills are a must to deliver technically excellent design solutions for our clients. Additional responsibilities include: Primary Duties: • Mentoring/Managing: • Help grow a team that works together to create a collaborative environment that promotes career growth, the production of high-quality construction documents, client satisfaction, and acts as a safety net for each other. • Mentor, organize, and facilitate the growth of junior staff. • Technical: • Perform complex building mechanical design and drafting assignments requiring application of standardized drawing techniques. • Demonstrate knowledge of procedures to produce design developments and construction documents, and a thorough knowledge of engineering planning, drafting, and detailing model mechanical ductwork and piping systems layouts. • Model mechanical equipment, ductwork, and piping systems layouts. • Prepare mechanical diagrams, equipment layouts, mechanical details, mechanical schedules, control diagrams, and other detailed drawings required for construction under the supervision of a Mechanical Engineer. • Work independently with occasional advice from the Mechanical Engineer and may direct the efforts of less experienced BIM Designers. • Requires experience in mechanical drafting of all phases of the construction documents. • Able to coordinate equipment, ductwork, and piping system layouts with other disciplines. • Ability to lead cross disciplinary coordination review meetings. • Perform other duties as needed. • Travel: Some travel to job sites or other HDR offices could be required. This would be communicated in advance to give adequate coordination time with project work and personal life. Preferred Qualifications • A minimum of 5 years of Revit experience in the field of mechanical, HVAC, and/or plumbing design of buildings • Strong computer skills (Revit, and Microsoft Office) • Must take ownership of assignments and work both independently and as part of a large project team. • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must. • Previous Data Center/Mission Critical design experience with an architectural/engineering, or engineering consulting firm is desired. • Strong desire to stay current with the trends of the fast-paced industry of mission critical. • Working knowledge of the following programs: Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, BIM360, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) • Knowledge of procedures for production of design developments and construction documents, a thorough knowledge of engineering planning, drafting, and detailing. • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems. • Excellent organizational and communication skills • Strongly motivated and showing professional initiative. • Focused on positive client outcomes. • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously. • Preference given to local candidates.
