Regional Process Engineer - Fitzgerald, GA or Troy, AL

Business Unit Description: 8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm. Responsibilities: The Regional Process Engineer is a key resource for the business and ensures that they can create a harmonization between production process, equipment capabilities and formulations to ensure products are run in accordance with desired standards and specifications. It is critical that the incumbent has the scientific/technical expertise to independently deliver on projects and has a base understanding of product commercialization and production capabilities. Additionally, the successful candidate will be required to work with the key stakeholders across R&D, Engineering, Operations and Quality to establish the right parameters for manufacturing of product that safely and consistently meets customer expectations at multiple locations across 8th Avenue Food and Provisions. Duties and Responsibilities: • Standardize and stabilize peanut butter manufacturing in NB facilities and healthy snacks at 8th avenue through formula and process optimization to be in-line with equipment and people capabilities. • Ability to work independently collecting and interpreting data to develop process specs and implement changes to the process independently to improve, food safety, quality and output with minimum waste. • Deliver on business goals to improve First Pass Quality (FPQ) through • Partner with R&D to ensure the correct formulations are in place • Understanding line capabilities and processing parameters and their operational limits to ensure specification adherence can be achieved 100% • Ensuring resources are equipped with and trained on standards and methods to enable them to run equipment and formulas in accordance with expectations • Conduct research (e.g. new products, novel technology, food process innovation, etc.) and prepare summaries/conclusions/insights. • Leverage both internal and external resources to help analyze problems, identify alternative options, carry out tests, foresee consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of project goals • Execute plant experiments DOE / trials, either individually or in support of R&D and/or Plant Operations with Roasters and Oven performance being key. • Maintain accurate and complete records of all experimental and design work. • Able to analyze data and establish trends over time using several statistical process control tools and technologies using Minitab and Tableau data sources • Able to summarize findings and make concrete, specific recommendations to the business • Formulate action plans and work with relevant stakeholders to execute on the same • Ensure actions can achieve and sustain the desired results as expected • Develop new and improved methods and systems for food processing, production, quality control and packaging, where applicable. • Work to support production scale ups and commercialization (support R&D and Plant Operation for successful commercialization with efficiency) • Work with various plant groups (QA, Engineering, Processing/Packaging, etc.) to identify and assist in implementing key areas for production improvement, waste reduction and cost saving projects. • Conduct in-depth review of product specifications and document standards for processing parameters and conditions. • Define processing core competencies in terms of playbooks, white papers, or other forms of knowledge capture and transfer technical learnings to manufacturing facilities where appropriate.
