CNC Machinist Job Description We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our team in a small machine shop. You will be responsible for operating Diamond CNC machining equipment and ensuring the quality and precision of our tools. This role involves performing routine maintenance, inspecting tools, and supporting departmental operations. Responsibilities • Operate Diamond CNC machining equipment efficiently and effectively. • Perform cleanup and inspection of Diamond tools to ensure quality standards. • Braise tools as necessary to maintain functionality. • Complete required documentation related to tools and machine operations. • Conduct routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance. • Inspect tools for quality assurance and provide support to team members. • Assist the Supervisor in managing customer demand, balancing department workload, and optimizing machine utilization. • Train, develop, and support department personnel, understanding their needs for team success. Position Summary: This position will be on VTL machine with +/- .003 tolerance requirements. Must know how to work with aerospace alloys. This position may support 1st shift (4:15am - 12:45pm, M - F), 2nd shift (12:15pm - 8:45pm, M - F), 3rd shift (8:15pm - 4:45am, Su - Th) operations, or a split shift depending on business needs. The selected individual will train on 1st shift for approximately 3 months, or until able to demonstrate an ability to perform the job with minimal intervention. Level 3 Machinist can, with little or no assistance, operate 3-5 axis CNC machines and lathes to produce complex aerospace parts demonstrating advanced cross training flexibility, including first part run and full machine recovery. Level three machinists can complete complex setups on 3-5 axis machines, apply advanced blueprint and GD&T reading to complex production inspection processes. Level three machinists will also be able to edit programs and write simple programs to make tooling. Level three machinist competencies include trouble shooting complex parts.
