Machine Operator

POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for operating Block Mold equipment in accordance with procedures to ensure optimum product quality. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties as assigned) . Above average understanding of the manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment operations, safety requirements and departmental procedures. . Operates the Block Mold. May also include the duties of operating the pre-expander or setting up equipment. . Verify equipment set-up prior to start of a production run, operates and shuts down manufacturing equipment. . Verifies order information and produces part(s) with the correct material, density, weight, size, and/or shape within quality tolerance to meet specific job requirements while meeting productivity standards. . Communicates with supervisor to ensure a clear understanding of the daily/weekly molding schedule. . Mold expanded bead to specific density . Monitor molding process to ensure proper fusion of the block and record pertinent information . Label block with required information. . Cut blocks to the specified size required. . Monitors equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisor; assists with routine cleaning and minor maintenance. . Troubleshoot and make adjustments to equipment settings . Responsible for training back-up operators as needed . Maintains proper work logs and completes required reports as necessary. . Maintains a clean and organized work area. . Transports finished product using forklift or hand operated equipment . Performs any other functions and responsibilities as assigned. . Must be trained and familiar with general safety. . Must be trained and familiar with Quality System Awareness. . Must be verified by supervisor and be signed off on procedures needed to fulfill job requirements within 2 months of hire. . Must be forklift operator certified within 2 months of hire. . Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is required. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE . High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. . Prior experience in a manufacturing / industrial environment preferred. . Prior experience operating a forklift preferred. . Basic computer skills and knowledge of barcoding. SKILLS & ABILITIES . Must be fluent in the English language, both written and spoken. . Must be able to use simple math and use basic hand-held measuring tools. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT . Light to moderate physical effort required including sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, climbing steps or ladders, grasping, fine and course manipulation, reaching both forward and above head level, and tolerant of temperature changes for the entire shift. . Must be able to push, pull and/or lift up to 50 pounds; and safely operate assigned machinery. OTHER . The duties of this job may vary slightly across divisions and locations. Machine Shop Lead

About this role Position Summary The Laron Machinist Lead is a working lead role responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments, while also guiding and supporting the shop team. This individual will ensure quality standards are met, mentor machinists, coordinate job priorities, and act as the key point of contact for production progress. This role combines hands-on machining expertise with leadership responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Machining & Fabrication • Set up and operate machines (lathes, mills, grinders, shapers, etc.) • Fabricate, install, and maintain shop machinery and mechanical systems • Monitor feed and speed during machining to ensure efficiency and safety • Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to calculate precise dimensions and tolerances • Measure, examine, and test completed parts to ensure conformance using precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges) Leadership & Coordination • Prioritize daily workflow and assign tasks to machinists and helpers • Ensure team members follow safety, quality, and productivity standards • Act as a liaison between shop personnel and management to communicate job status, equipment issues, or process improvements • Assist with training new employees and cross-training team members • Provide guidance on proper machining techniques and troubleshooting practices Maintenance & Support • Perform and document preventive and predictive maintenance on shop equipment • Troubleshoot and repair shop machinery as needed • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas • Write and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required • Lock out/tag out equipment according to safety protocols when not in use Ohio Transmission Corporation is proud to be an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
