Precision CNC Machinist

• INTRODUCTION • This job description establishes and describes the requirements, duties, authority, responsibilities, and measures of performance for the Machinist at Marion Precision Tool, Inc. (MPT) • EDUCATION A High School diploma or equivalent required. A Machinist Certification is preferred. In lieu of certification, a minimum 10-years job experience equivalent in related industry/functions will be considered. • SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES • Ability to follow directions as directed by the Production Manager and/or Operations Manager. • Knowledge in set-up of CNC Lathes, Multi-axis Lathes and 4-axis horizontal milling and vertical milling machines (MAZAK Preferred) • Knowledge in use of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments including but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and calipers. • Strong understanding of blueprint reading / geometric tolerancing interpretation. • Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines. • Able to adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, delays, or unexpected events. • Must be willing to work flexible shifts and changing work schedule. • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra for calculating material fabrication. • Knowledge of CNC Conversational Programming a plus. • Experience with Mazak equipment as well as experience with Mazatrol is a plus. • PHYSICAL Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, moving around and over obstacles. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to see and read reports, manuals, specifications, model numbers, and to complete forms. Ability make written and oral reports. • BASIC FUNCTIONS The basic function of the Machinist is to manufacture quality machined parts to drawing specs to best service the customer needs at minimum cost to MPT. The Machinist is responsible for following MPTs Standard Operating Procedures in the organizations Quality Management System. • REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The Machinist, regardless of other duties has a direct responsibility to the Production Manager. • AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Machinist derives the necessary authority from and is directly responsible to the Production Manager. • SPECIFIC DUTIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO) • Responsible for supporting operators in the training of loading parts, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements. • Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and set up requirements. • Measures and mark dimensions and reference points on material or work pieces as a guide for subsequent machining. • Detects equipment malfunctions on or out of tolerance machining and adjusts machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality of productions. Reports all machine malfunctions to Production Manager. • Communicates with management, production, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues. • Responsible to operate and maintain machines in the manner that ensures their longevity while adhering to guidelines that promote personal safety and safety of others. Keeps work area clean, organized, and tidy. • Maintain security of drawings, tools, fixtures, technical manuals, raw materials, and machined parts. • Ensure jobs are completed timely and efficiently to meet production schedule priorities. • Maintain and update shop router, job card, files, paper, and electronic records. • General Housekeeping in the Machine Shop. • Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with state and federal law, with the company Quality Management System, company policies, Safety, and Environmental regulations. • Attend meetings as required. • Assist others as directed by Production Manager/Operations Manager. • Use good judgment and reasoning while investigating and solving problems. • Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Production Manager/Operations Manager. • STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE The performance of the Machinist will be judged to a major extent based on the consideration of the following factors • The extent of cooperation with Production, Operations, Quality, to ensure timely completion and delivery of product that meets the customers specified purchase requirements and production schedules. • The machinist’s ability to produce finished parts that conform to dimensions and tolerances as per the customer’s specifications as evidenced by scrap rate, customer returns, quality complaints or internal quality issues. • The machinist’s operation and maintenance of machines in the manner that ensures their longevity while adhering to guidelines that promote personal safety and safety of others, keeping work area clean, organized, and tidy. • All other performance objectives for the period have been met. • Compliance with Government, ISO, and other appropriate regulations. • The company safety record for the operating year. Machine Shop | Machinist - 1st Shift

WHERE YOU WILL WORK This is an onsite position, working at our Ocala, Florida manufacturing and distribution facility. SCHEDULE 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. | Monday - Friday (Overtime when needed) WHAT YOU WILL DO Machinist sets up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically controlled equipment to produce precision metal parts, instruments, and tools. • Fabricates new machine parts to required dimensions and tolerances using manual or CNC milling machines, lathes, and or surface grinders. • Reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand specifications and tolerances. • Setting up and operating machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines. • Selecting the appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and materials for each job. • Measuring and inspecting finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and precise measurements. • Adjusting machine settings to control speed, feed, and other variables. • Troubleshooting issues with machinery and making necessary repairs or adjustments. • Participate in rebuilding/building functions of equipment. • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including routine machine maintenance. • Adhering to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries. • Collaborating with engineers, designers, and other team members to optimize manufacturing processes and improve product quality. • Continuously learning and staying updated on advancements in machining technology and techniques. • Ability to work in a team environment & maintain regular attendance. • Must be able to work overtime as business need dictates. REQUIREMENTS • High school diploma or equivalent • Machinist Apprenticeship Certification • 3+ Years of Machinist Experience • Blueprint reading experience. • Metalworking and CAD/CAM • read engineering drawings. • Skilled with variety of welding and cutting tools. • Programming and function of CNC machines.
