CNC Machinist - Large Format

Job Title: CNC Machinist - Large Format JOB DESCRIPTION Operates one or more type of computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tool or produce precision parts used in aerospace/military applications. Controls speed, feed, coolant, and machine procedures. May make machine programming changes. Primarily machines aerospace/military grade aluminum steel and various alloys. Uses standard precision measurement tooling such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and gages to check work in process and ensure finished product meets dimensional tolerances. Machines prototype & production part runs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Demonstrates a good command of print reading, a working knowledge of GD&T, attention to complex work instructions and setup sheets, and the ability to follow documentation of processes. · Knowledge of tooling, tool setting and offsetting, setting work offsets, and inspection along with measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, deltronic pins is a must. · Knowledge of Renishaw tool setters and spindle probes. · Setup and operation of multiple CNC machines, including 3, 4 and 5-axis VMC & HMC’s. · Knowledge of modern Mazak and Fanuc controls. · Ability to read and write g-code to make edits to tool numbers, tool offsets, work offsets, spindle speed, and feed rates as necessary. · Ensures 100% on-time delivery by meeting established cycle times as determined by department supervisor; making recommendations to decrease setup and cycle times. · Maintain a demanding level of quality working on Aerospace materials such as aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and/or plastic. · Accurately document and complete required quality/inspection documents, maintain traceability of production lots, and provide detailed shift turnover notes. · Ensures quality, assists in reducing costs and continuously improves productivity by accurately tracking job time through barcoding or other means. · Good communication skills are a must. This position requires working with other team members in up- and down-stream operations, programming, quality control, and engineering. · Must be capable to perform machine maintenance, clean machines and work areas daily during production run time, stand all day, and lift up to 50lbs. Description The Role: • *To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.** Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Manual Machinist with expertise in operating manual mills and lathes to join our precision manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working to tight tolerances and must be capable of reading engineering drawings, setting up machines, and independently machining high-precision components. This position plays a critical role in supporting production, prototyping, and custom work with a focus on accuracy, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. Essential duties and reponsibilities include the folloing. Other duties may be assigned. • Set up and operate manual milling machines, lathes, and related equipment • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T symbols • Machine parts to tight tolerances (±0.001" or tighter) using manual methods • Measure and inspect workpieces with precision tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges) • Perform machining operations including turning, facing, drilling, boring, threading, and milling • Maintain machines through regular preventive maintenance • Collaborate with engineers and quality teams to ensure part accuracy • Keep a clean, safe, and organized workspace • Accurately record production and material usage data Required Qualifications • High school diploma or GED equivalent; plus 5 or more years of experience as a manual machinist or toolmaker; or equivalent combination of education and experience • Proficiency in operating Bridgeport-style mills and engine lathes • Strong understanding of machining principles, speeds & feeds, tooling, and materials • Demonstrated ability to hold very tight tolerances consistently • Experience reading blueprints and engineering drawings • Skilled in using measurement and inspection tools • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills • Self-motivated and capable of working independently Work Environment & Physical Requirements • Must be able to support standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
