CNC Machinist - 1st & 3rd Shifts Open

SUMMARY: Produces machined parts, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies 3rd Shift "FLEX" Hours: 9PM - 9AM ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Operates mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry. • Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads • Produce parts by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) • Works with sheet metal and plastics • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes • Inspects parts and change or correct process layouts for parts • Maintains safe operations by adhering to OSHA safety procedures and regulations • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs • Other duties as assigned • It is every employee’s responsibility to be aware of and adhere to the applicable Safety & Health, Quality and Environmental Process of the Company. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma or GED required • 3 to 5 years of experience on CNC machines required • Must be able to set up jobs on your own • Must be able to read blueprints • Must be able to work to close tolerances • Must have good mathematical skills • Formal apprenticeship desired SKILLS AND ABILITIES: • Live tooling experience preferred • CNC Vertical Mills and Horizontal Mills • Lathe Setup experience • Knowledge of HAAS controls • Excellent verbal communication skills • Functional and technical skills • Conceptual Skills • Attention to Detail • Good judgment • Demonstrates ability to solve problems • Contributes to the creation of new solutions WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: • The normal work environment is typical of a machine shop with many moving parts and is typically noisy • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time • The incumbent is routinely required to stand (85% - 90% of the days is spent standing), walk, stoop, kneel, touch, see, and hear, and may be required to lift or move up to 35-50 pounds; over 50 pounds with assistance • Safety steel toed shoes are required • While performing the regular duties of the position, the incumbent is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. The incumbent must be able to wear safety equipment and follow safety instructions. CNC Set UP Machinist

Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor Job Hours: • 7:00am-3:30pm shift, Mon-Fri. • Flexible to work extended hours as needed. Job Summary: The CNC Set Up Machinist is responsible for produces machine parts by setting up, operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, and maintaining quality and safety standards. Loading, unloading, and dimensionally verifying machined assemblies is a vital responsibility of this position. Supervisory Responsibilities: • None Duties/Responsibilities: • Responsible to dimensionally verify assemblies are machined following the assembly print. • Machine components as directed by the department supervisor. • Load assemblies in the work fixture as instructed. • Accurately verify quantities and additional work instructions on the shop traveler. • Maintain lot integrity by keeping individual lots separated. • Ensure the proper amount of shop supplies are on hand and notify the department supervisor when the supply is getting low. • Maintain lot integrity by keeping individual lots separated. • Safely and securely, organize assemblies in the holding bins to avoid handling damage. • Responsible to accurately review the shop traveler to verify if plated allowance is required. • Responsible for pulling and preparing required material. • Accountable for maintaining coolant levels daily. • Additional duties might be assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings. • Ability to read gauges and calipers. • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills. • Skill in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools. • Interpretation and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). • Good time management skills. • Attention to detail and thorough in completing work tasks. • Yearly eye examinations required. Education and Experience: • Technical certification preferred. • 2-3+ years proven machining experience. • Designing experience using GibbsCAM preferred. Accountabilities: • Achieve performance/productivity goals. • Achieve deadlines (production, reporting). • Achieve quality standards within acceptable limits (first-pass yield). Physical Demands: • Occasionally be required to push, pull and move objects up to 50 pounds. • Hearing, seeing ability to include depth perception, peripheral vision and rapid mental coordination. • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Physical Requirements: • Frequently stand, walk, and use hands to handle or move parts. • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally. • Good vision, depth perception, and coordination. • Yearly eye examinations required.
