CNC Machinist

The ideal candidate will have experience in operating and programming CNC machines, as well as knowledge of various materials and tooling. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for producing high-quality parts and components to meet customer specifications. Model Maker Machinist I

Description To work closely with Engineers and Designers to produce the production, assembly, and final finishing of prototypes, models, test specimens, test fixtures, custom implants and special instruments using CNC machine equipment. Key Responsibilities • Work closely with Engineers and Designers to produce the production, assembly, and final finishing of prototypes, models, test specimens, test fixtures, custom implants and special instruments and ensure they are completed in a timely manner. • Independently perform machining, assembly, and final finishing operations as instructed by Engineers and Designers. • Program, setup and operate CNC and manual equipment. • Build tooling and fixtures when necessary. • Produce rapid prototypes in support of the E&D department. • Document processing steps, as necessary, in a router. • Know and apply the Quality System, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and any appropriate Federal and International standards. • Assist and support other employees as necessary on the production of prototypes and Special Instruments made from metals or plastics. Skills, Knowledge and Experience Education: • High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a tool and die maker. • Toolmakers apprenticeship desired. • Welding (TIG/GTAW) experience desired. Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: • Ability to read & interpret blueprints with understanding of GD&T • Ability to understand and write CNC programs and proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Unigraphics/CADKey/SurfCAM). • Working knowledge of CNC and manual equipment. • Experience with machining various stainless steels and plastics desired. • Familiarity with medical-device manufacturing and documentation desired. • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications • Ability to set-up job, inspect and trouble shoot. • Willingness to learn • Excellent quality awareness • Ability to follow instructions • Ability to inspect and measure own work. Self-inspection required • Ability to maintain a well-organized shop. • Mechanical aptitude • Multi-tasking • Ability to work in a team environment • Good verbal communication skills.
