Your Job We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Machinist to join our maintenance team at Palatka. The successful candidate will be responsible for precision maintenance, repair, and fabrication tasks across a wide range of plant equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with machine tools, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Starting Pay is $38.91 and we run a Monday - Thursday, 4/10-hour shifts Our Team The Georgia Pacific Palatka Milll manufactures and distributes leading commercial and retail brands of paper products (bath tissue, napkins, and towels). Every day, GP employees and products help maintain a strong, stable economy in Northeastern Wisconsin. What You Will Do • Utilize SAP for creating notifications, planning, and completing work orders • Overhaul, rebuild, inspect, maintain, and fabricate parts for various plant systems and equipment. • Measure, inspect, and test machine parts for defects and ensure compliance with specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and feeler gauges. • Shape metals including steel, aluminum, titanium, and various alloys using manual machining techniques. • Collaborate with vendors to obtain pricing, place orders, and manage parts and supplies. • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and machine shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and specialty equipment including: • * Various Style Lathes (non-CNC) • Key Cutter • Radial Drill Press • Surface Grinder • Slitter Blade Grinder • Milling Machines • Portable Key Cutter, Flange Facer, Boring Bar, Journal Squirrel • Interpret and follow blueprints, technical drawings, and documentation to meet exact specifications. • Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. • Maintain industrial machinery and ensure adherence to all safety and environmental policies. • Work flexible shifts including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) • 2 years or more experience operating lathes, milling machines, drills, and grinders to fabricate metal parts with precision. • 2 years or more experience working in a machine shop environment. • 1 year or more welding repair experience. • Experience with computer skills for email, data entry, and document preparation. What Will Put You Ahead • Associate's degree in Metal Machining Technologies or related mechanical field. • Experience with CNC machinery, CAD software, and 3D printing technologies. • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and blueprints.
