This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining horizontal and vertical boring mills to machine precision components according to specifications. The machinist will ensure parts meet quality standards, maintain safe operations, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Set up and operate boring mills to perform precision machining operations including milling, drilling, tapping, and boring. • Machine components, tooling, and parts per blueprints, drawings, and specifications. • Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances. • Maintain equipment and work area, including routine machine maintenance. • Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and team members to improve setups, processes, and tooling efficiency. • Monitor tooling condition and make adjustments or replacements as necessary. • Properly deburr, tap, and inspect threads to ensure quality and accuracy before moving parts to the next operation. • Troubleshoot machining issues, report nonconformance, and take corrective action as required. • Follow all safety, quality, and company policies while supporting continuous improvement efforts. Desired Qualifications • Journeyman Machinist or equivalent experience/education preferred. • Experience with boring mills (horizontal and/or vertical) and numerically controlled machines. • Skilled in reading and interpreting prints, schematics, and technical drawings. • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and precision manufacturing. • Hands-on experience with manual machining operations is a plus. • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and safe work practices. • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining challenges. • Team-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
