CNC Machinist II - Now Hiring

JOB SUMMARY: Operate and maintain production needs on CNC and/or manual machine(s) and maintain quality of parts by inspecting part dimensions given by the appropriate method sheet. Maintaining quality of parts by inspecting part dimensions given by the appropriate method sheet. Perform daily 5S duties; cleaning machines, sweeping/mopping and maintaining overall workspace organization. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for reading and interpreting blue prints including GD&T Read and edit programs in G-Code and other CAD/CAM software and indentify areas of opportunity for program efficiency. Indentify, document and dispose of scrap. Must load parts and/or bar stock into and out of CNC machine(s). Verify revision levels on router and method sheets. Change inserts, drills, boring bars, etc. when needed and return all usable tooling to the tool crib. Recycle all Carbide tooling. Troubleshoot any production issue in regards to machining and getting assistance for program related issues. Add hydraulic oil and/or cutting fluids to the machine(s) when needed. Make appropriate offsets and/or speed and feed adjustments to program if needed to maintain part quality. Obey all safety rules and stop work if continuing is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition. Report all safety concerns immediately. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of CNC machine(s) setup Knowledge of inserts including wear characteristics, insert style (WNMG, VNMG, CCMT, etc), insert nose radius and grade of insert. Operate all aspects of the machines; (powering machines up and down, bar feed operation, restarts, faults, etc) Ability to read and use calipers, micrometers and other measuring equipment • Ability to communicate with the setup person on quality issues or concerns. • Act with the utmost integrity, professionalism and positive attitude. • Must be a team player. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) experience as a Conventional Machinist I or equivalent Basic Shop Math Intermediate blue print reading • Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerance Experience using Calipers, Micrometers, Height Stands and Bore Gages. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: Basic Valve School- 30 days PHYSICAL DEMAND: While performing duties you may be required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist and/or lift up to 50 pounds throughout an entire shift. May be required to work more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week based on production needs. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: • Exposed to manufacturing plant conditions and elements including but not limited to noise, dust, dirt, oil, and grease. • PPE's will be required including safety glasses, ear plugs and/or safety shoes. • May be required to work at different work stations as determined by business needs. CNC MACHINE OPERATOR II

Job Description BAE Systems in Aiken, South Carolina is seeking EXPERIENCED CNC Machine Operators that will handle Machining, fabricating and processing parts while meeting department and/or plant goals for cost, quality, delivery, safety and other performance measures. Within this role, you will primarily operate equipment with CNC controllers. Set machine controls, measure and load tools, fixtures, tapes, programs, and operate machine. Load and unload parts onto machine and fixtures from pallets or containers. Use hand-tools, ratchets, air tools, or other devices to secure parts and fixtures Machine parts to blueprint specifications. Check parts to quality specifications. Troubleshoot problems and recommend or take corrective action. Use hoist, pallet jacks or forklift to move parts, material, containers and fixtures to and from storage areas. Complete paperwork for work orders, labor and time reporting, quality records and related reporting requirements. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Train others. Perform other duties as necessary and appropriate for this position. Required Education, Experience, & Skills • A minimum of 2 years CNC machine controlled equipment experience in a metal cutting/metal working manufacturing environment. • Able to apply shop math, read and interpret blueprints and calculate dimensions. • Able to use gauges and measuring tools to determine the quality of a part. • Able to reach up to 50 inches, lift 30 pounds, and apply 30 pounds of torque to ratchets to load and unload parts on machine. • Able to understand work orders, machine controls and settings, fixtures and tool requirements and make adjustments as needed. • Able to understand safety policies, procedures and machine features. • Able to operate hoist, pallet jack, or forklift. Operation of forklift requires passing a certification test and the ability to step up 14 inches onto the forklift. • Good analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, and communications skills. • Good time management and planning skills. Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $42436 - $67898 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
