The CNC Machinist is a technical wage position that plans, organizes, and operates various types of CNC machines to produce quality machine parts while maximizing production and assuring quality standards. Qualifications: Associates Degree in Machine Tool/CNC Technology OR 2 to 3 years experience in CNC Machining OR Military Experience in the CNC machining field. • Starting pay: $32.63 Position Responsiblilties: • Maintain a safe work environment. • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines using hand tools and precision measuring instruments. • Lifts work pieces to machines manually, or with hoists or cranes. • Selects appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in machine work. • Remove and replace dull cutting tools. • Monitor the speed and feed of machines during the machining process. • Performs first piece inspection to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments. • Completes the Mold Specification Check sheet showing actual dimensions versus specifications. • Detects equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine as appropriate, within capabilities. Reports all machine malfunctions immediately. • Operates a forklift as required. • Follow prescribed and standard safety regulations. • Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Candidate must be willing to rotate shifts Required Skills and Abilities: • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, algebra and trigonometry. • Must possess the ability to read and interpret blueprints and parts specifications both third and first angle projection. • Must have working knowledge of metric and standard units, and how to convert between the two. • Must possess the ability to use standard measuring tools, e.g. micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc. • Must have an understanding of Geometric tolerances. • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
