ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment. • Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment. • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results. • Create manning plans based on volume forecasts for new programs. • Gives input to product design based on design for manufacture/design for assembly philosophy. • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency. • Develop and document quality system for new programs (control plan, PFMEA, process flow, work instructions, and inspection plans.) • Coordinate and document all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities. • Calculate required dunnage usage. Design, test and order all necessary dunnage for new programs. • Develop and maintain documentation such as downtime, scrap, and efficiencies. • Utilize data such as downtime, scrap, efficiencies, etc. to plan and strategize countermeasures for equipment and process problems. • Leads or participates in Kaizen activities to ensure continuous improvement in processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field with Three (3) to five (5) years Engineering experience. Experience in automotive manufacturing industry is preferred. Might consider under 3 years of experience at a lesser salary as a Production Engineer level 1 • Must have CNC machining experience and prefer plastic injection mold as well as prefer automated high volume assembly experience. • Technical skills in manufacturing processes and methods including flow, layout, assembly and production equipment. • Problem analysis and problem resolution. • Familiarity with current automotive standard and OSHA regulations. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent organizational skills. • Ability to motivate team efforts to accomplish goals. • Must be proficient in MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint. Some Access experience preferred. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to sit or stand and move about the facility. Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Combination of office and plant environment. May be required to use safety glasses and wear steel toe shoes while performing specific tasks or while in specific manufacturing areas. PREFERRED SKILLSETS: (Machining PE) – note though that the machining experience is required versus preferred • 2D/3D CAD (Solidworks, AutoCad) • GD&T Knowledge and understanding • CNC Experience, able to read and understand G-code • Experience in Automotive Mfg., Understanding of IATF 16949 & ISO14001 standards. • Experience with Automation, Sensors, Vision systems, PLCs, 2D barcodes • Can use hand measurement tools: Caliper, Micrometer, etc. • Project Mgmt, Experience with Capital Expenditures, Vendor Mgmt • Understanding of and able to perform: process capabilities(Cpk), process flow analysis, gauge R&R, time studies. • Fixture design • Tooling Selection and Design (applicable to Lathes, Mills, Grinders, Deburring machines)
