Skilled Maintenance Technician - HVAC

PIONEER UNION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT SKILLED MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - (HVAC) Job Description Salary Column: U Number of Days per Year: 261 Longevity Payment: Yes Classified: Union – CSEA Job Summary Under the direction of the Maintenance, Operations and Transportation Director, the HVAC Technician performs skilled journey level duties in the inspection, servicing, and repairs of the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems. Performs a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks in the trade areas of electrical, plumping, carpentry and masonry. Operates a school bus to designated locations to transport students to and from school; field trips; services school buses, and performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: 1. Demonstrate ability to read and write English at a level required for successful job performance 2. The equivalent of graduation from high school 3. Apprenticeship in heating, ventilation and air conditioning 4. Four (4) years experience in building maintenance, to include two (2) years experience in the repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems 5. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing 6. Pass background clearance from FBI and DOJ 7. Submit TB Clearance 8. The following valid certificates/licenses, as issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and California Highway Patrol: ● CA Driver’s License (class C) ● DMV Driver Record printout 9. Must have EPA certification to handle refrigerant Type I, II or universal. 10. *School Bus Driver’s Certificate 11. CA Commercial Driver’s License (class A or B) 12. First Aid Certificate 13. Medical Certificate, DL-51 • District will train to obtain school bus driver’s certificate Knowledge and Abilities 1. Ability to perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance tasks without direct supervision 7. Ability to operate, maintain, repair and inspect heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems 8. Ability to test, adjust and calibrate boiler and air conditioning machinery, thermal storage systems and mechanical, electrical and/or pneumatic control instruments 9. Ability to maintain, inspect, diagnose and make emergency repairs to natural gas, water, refrigeration and air distribution systems 10. Ability to adjust air handling equipment to achieve air flow, temperature and humidity balances for individual rooms, building areas and buildings 11. Ability to read, interpret and work from plans, drawings, and specifications 12. Ability estimate time and materials 13. Ability to maintain records 14. Ability read, write, speak and understand English well 15. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and other school personnel 16. Knowledge of provisions of the State Motor Vehicle Code and Title 13 applicable to the operation of school buses and the transporting of students and performs all duties and responsibilities related to the transportation of students and staff. Essential Functions of the position, which may change or evolve in the future, are; but not limited to the following: 1. Inspect, maintain and repair to heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems 2. Perform electrical maintenance and repair work 3. Determine priorities for requisitioning of materials and supplies 4. Provides recommendation regarding the purchase of new systems 5. Provide technical training to maintenance personnel in the maintenance and repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems 6. Assist with carpentry, plumbing, and painting projects 7. Maintain and prepare reports 8. Performs a variety of maintenance and repairs in the following trades: plumping, carpentry, painting, masonry and electrical 9. Drive a car, pickup, or other school vehicle 10. Drive a school bus when required in accordance with appropriate time schedules 11. Transport students and instructors on special trips as required 12. HVAC-R Technician - Central Valley

Job Summary The HVAC-R Technician provides day-to-day maintenance of equipment, electrical systems, heating systems, HVAC/Refrigeration, plumbing, painting, and other duties as assigned for Taco Bell and Wendy's restaurants in the Santa Maria, Arroyo Grande and Orcutt area. Duties/Responsibilities – Including, but not limited to: • Develop a work schedule to minimize the impact on customer service and restaurant operations. • Estimate time and cost of repairs and equipment. • Inspect and correctly diagnose standard malfunctions in restaurant equipment. • Prioritize and complete needed equipment repairs as they occur in a timely fashion. • Repair and perform preventative maintenance and replacement functions on a wide range of restaurant equipment (fryers, grills, walk-in freezers/coolers, ice machines, ovens, etc.), electrical systems, heating systems, HVAC/Refrigeration, plumbing, painting. • Respond to emergency service calls for repair. • Work to implement preventative maintenance procedures as defined by company representatives. Required Skills/Abilities: • Good interpersonal skills. • Hold a valid driver’s license. • Operate and manage inventory in the company vehicle safely. • Pass a background check and motor vehicle review. • Possess mechanical and electrical skills, be able to read wiring diagrams and schematics. • Read and interpret manuals, schematics, plans, and specifications related to duties. • Travel required. • Work flexible shifts based on calls in the area and adapt to changing work schedules. • Work independently with minimal supervision.
