What We Look For (MUST HAVE) • Minimum three years’ experience working with 480w industrial electrical systems. • Must have knowledge and understanding of local and national electrical codes and standard practices. • Must be willing and able to work overtime, which may include weekends. • Must be willing to adhere to safety standards, such as wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). • Experience reading sketches, schematics, and diagrams, with or without a reasonable accommodation. Job Duties: • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority. • Act as a leader and roll model in the areas of safety and environment. • Work overtime as required to support the plant operations and maintenance. • Maintain a good working knowledge of the plant safety and environment rules, and understand how to apply them to specific job tasks. Directly monitor and evaluate personal safety and the inclusion of safety requirements in maintenance procedures. • Assist with development and implementation of technical training for the electricians to ensure that the level of knowledge and performance of the plant electrical work force remains high. • Provide technical assistance to production and engineering groups on application of new and modification of existing electrical equipment. • Research and identify opportunities to modify existing electrical equipment/processes to improve efficiency and/or reliability. Assist in design review and commissioning of projects. Assist engineers with planning and organizing projects as they relate to electricity. • Performs outage planning for major electrical work. • Technical resource as needed for other OxyChem locations. • Responsible for the reliability of the power distribution system, the rectifiers, and all associated controls. • Plan, organize, and schedule jobs involving electricians and electrical contractors. • Identify equipment deficiencies and write work orders to correct them. • Periodically review the site electrical procedures for accuracy and compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements. Provide training to technicians on any changes as required. • Keep current on safety for electrical workers as regulated by OSHA and other regulatory bodies, such as NFPA 70E. • Help oversee the electrical protocol and electrical PSM and ISO activities to ensure appropriate plant compliance. • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for plant electrical equipment that will assure a high on stream time for electrical equipment. • Provide coverage for vacations, illnesses, etc for the Electrical Shop supervisor and Electric Shop group leader. • Interpret and modify drawings including P&ID's, control diagrams, schematics, ladder logic, etc. for initial design reviews and plant modifications. • Ability to understand and troubleshoot microprocessor and semiconductor problems. • Ensure the plants electrical PM program meets corporate guidelines. • Ensure PMs are completed on time. • Ensure deficiency work orders are written as PMs are completed and deficiencies are found. Qualifications: • Must have high school diploma or equivalent • Must have Journeyman's License • Strong Electrical background • Thorough knowledge of electrical distribution and control systems • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code • Working knowledge of the inspection and maintenance and troubleshooting of distribution and power transformers • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to read, write and speak in English • Must be able to respond to off hour emergencies • Must have a valid driver's license • Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
