Electrical Technology Instructor

Salary: Reports to: Dean of Instruction Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Exempt Purpose This position has primary responsibility for providing leadership and direction in the areas of theory and laboratory activities of the specific instructional components relating to the students educational goals. Instructors develop curriculum and materials that respond to the workplace competencies for employment as an outcome for students. The instructor is directly responsible to the Dean of Instruction. General responsibilities include academic instruction with students, advising students, planning, leadership and professional involvement including professional associations and community service. Electric Distribution Engineer, Hays

LOCATION: Hays, KS (other Midwest Energy district locations may be considered) GENERAL FUNCTION: Midwest Energy, Inc., an electric and natural gas utility company, is seeking an electrical engineer to work in its Hays, Kansas office. Midwest Energy serves 50,000 electric customers. The company has $164 million in total electric utility plant and 11,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines. Position involves electric distribution system analysis and planning using Misoft Windmil, protective device coordination, distribution and substation design and engineering support for the Operations Department. The position duties include (1) develop, plan, direct, and coordinate the design, construction and operation of electric distribution facilities to provide efficient, safe and reliable system operations; (2) support of the Outage Management System (OMS), (3) provide line and substation design engineering and construction support; and (4) investigate emerging developments in reliability and distribution technology. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university with preference for power system-related studies. Experience in electric distribution system engineering is helpful but not required. Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply, including entry-level, and expected December 2025 graduates. Although experience is not required, and on-the-job training will be provided, applicable experience includes all phases of electrical design, construction and maintenance with special emphasis in one or more of the following areas: distribution system planning and analysis using programs such as Milsoft, CYME or similar, protection system coordination, distribution line and substation design. Professional Engineer registration, or the ability to become registered in the State of Kansas within 5 years is required. Consideration will be given for related experience to determine compensation and classify successful candidate(s) to the appropriate engineer level. Engineer I – Salary Range $73,588 - $89,175 Engineer II – Salary Range $85,789 - $103,549 Engineer III – Salary Range $99,153 - $120,577 Engineer IV – Salary Range $115,920 - 139,725 • Level is determined by years of experience, credentials, etc. WORKING CONDITIONS: Primary working conditions are office based. Must be able to sit and work at a computer for extended time periods. Field work is also required to gather information, inspect distribution facilities, monitor construction and maintenance activities, and assist in storm damage assessment and repair. Occasional travel and work outside of normal business hours required.
