Journeyman Electrician – Salina, KS Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Journeyman Electrician for our facility in Salina, KS. This role works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., plus occasional overtime as required. Primary Responsibilities: • Repairing critical equipment, performing preventive and predictive maintenance • Willing to learn and/or work on mechanical/electrical hardware CNC and PLC troubleshooting • Must demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills • Maintains equipment logs on assigned equipment, recording pertinent information about downtime and maintenance problems • Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and perform repairs • Ability to perform electronic repairs used in electrical and mechanical maintenance technician work assignments • Provide leadership to ensure all safety and environmental procedures are maintained • Help with scheduling down time for machine repairs or preventive maintenance Qualifications: • Must provide proof of an electrical license • Minimum of 2 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred • Excellent verbal/written communication and computer skills preferred • Provide tools for the trade At Great Plains Manufacturing, our people make the difference, making our Company a great place to work and grow. As an apprentice electrician, you'll work closely with skilled electricians on various job sites, gaining hands on experience to build a solid foundation in this trade. Scope of Work Apprentice Electricians will assist skilled electricians and learn on the job. This role provides exposure to underground rough-in, interior wall and above ceiling conduit installation, circuit and feeder pulling, fixture and large gear installation, and troubleshooting. Help replace main and auxiliary disconnects as required • Perform basic electrical duties including but not limited to: using a voltage/ohm meter to check motor windings, fuses, line voltage output, and transformer output using an amp meter to amp a motor, using motor leads to reverse a motor, using an electrical schematic to determine machine line voltage, fuse sizing and transformer incoming and outgoing voltages, and checking/troubleshooting single phase and three phase wiring • Participate in and successfully complete training directed at increasing job-related trade skills as mandated by management/supervisor • Help train Maintenance employees in keeping all equipment in good repair and regularly serviced and notify supervisor of electrical or related problems as required • Perform all duties in accordance with USDA, company policy, and established procedures and maintains clean work area • The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required; including but not limited to bump cap, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, hair and beard nets, gloves and safety shoes or rubber boots The employing subsidiaries of The Schwan Food Company are Equal Employment Opportunity Employers.
