Position Summary The HVAC/Electrical Department is recruiting for one full time Electrician. Under the general supervision of the HVAC/Electrical Supervisor, this position is responsible for maintaining records, installing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining all campus electrical and lighting systems and associated equipment. This position requires passing a post-offer physical, functional assessment and drug screen. Duties & Responsibilities • Full-time position with the following work schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a one hour meal break. • Inspect, repair, modify, and maintain electrical distribution equipment, fixtures, control equipment, conduit, and wiring. • Install various types of conduit, fittings, breakers, fuses, and wire in high and low voltage systems. • Inspect, install, troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance on campus lighting systems; to include replacement of defective bulbs and ballasts, emergency ballast, timers, motors, and related electrical components. • Conform with codes, rules, regulations, and safety standards associated with the trade; ensure all campus electrical, lighting, and related safety and emergency systems comply with National Electrical Code. • Perform preventive maintenance procedures using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). • Maintain safety and inspection records, and pertinent data. • Use electrical testing equipment to troubleshoot electrical systems. • Assist in design and construction of in-house remodeling and renovation projects, including installation of panels, circuits, conduit, wiring, devices, lighting and other high voltage and low voltage devices. • Respond to emergency calls during non-business hours. • Assist HVAC technician with repair, service, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. • Assist Technology staff with repair, service, maintenance, and installation of computer, projector, audio-visual, and other technology systems, including high and low voltage wiring. • Perform related work as required. Qualifications • Must have a current Texas journeyman, maintenance, or master electrician’s license. • Must have a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in a commercial, institutional, or industrial electrical setting; • Experience must include installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical and lighting systems; • High school diploma or GED is required. • Must have experience working with voltages of 24 through 480 volts; • Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, construction drawings, and technical manuals. • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license and be able to drive College vehicles. • Must be detail oriented, dependable, and able to establish and maintain a positive and effective working relationship with other employees. • Must be familiar with National Electric Code. • Must have a basic knowledge of electrical diagnostic equipment, volt/amp meters, infrared cameras, etc. • Must possess a smart phone or other approved device and agree to install and utilize the ExakTime Mobile App to capture and record all employee time records. Physical Demands • Must be able to use hands and fingers to handle tools and parts. • Must be able to frequently stoop, kneel, and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds; • Must be able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds; • Must have the mobility to access small work areas and work in varying temperatures and heights; must be able to work indoors or outdoors. • Must be able to hear light to moderate sounds; the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally loud.
