The Electrical Maintenance Lead is primarily responsible for electrical work and supervision in the industrial field for our growing electrical division. The lead will report to the Operations Manager and should have an extensive understanding of the importance of general maintenance and electrical safety procedures. IREN’s Electrical Maintenance Lead should have substantial knowledge of electrical circuits, and comprehension of electrical assessments, repairs, and installs for industrial facilities. Job requirements • High School diploma or equivalent. • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electrical maintenance, including 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in high-demand environments such as data centers, or industrial facilities. • Proven experience working with high-capacity power systems, mining hardware, and cooling systems. • Advanced understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and backup generators. • Familiarity with cooling systems. • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. • Proficient with electrical testing tools and software, such as multimeters, thermal imagers, and monitoring systems. • Electrical Journeyman’s or Master Electrician License. • NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Certification. • OSHA 10 Safety Certification (required). • Strong leadership and team management skills. • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities to troubleshoot complex electrical issues. • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for reporting and team coordination. • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. • Ability to work in an industrial environment, including lifting heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs), working in confined spaces, and operating on elevated platforms. • Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and being on-call for emergencies or urgent repairs. Job responsibilities The Electrical Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the facility’s electrical systems that power mining equipment. This leadership role ensures the reliability and efficiency of electrical infrastructure, including power distribution, backup systems, cooling systems, and mining rigs. The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor will manage a team of electricians, coordinate preventive maintenance, and lead electrical infrastructure upgrades to support the 24/7 operation. The role also requires a focus on safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. Responsibilities: • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance electricians, providing guidance and oversight on daily tasks, troubleshooting, and project execution. Ensure that all electrical systems are properly maintained, and repairs are conducted efficiently. • Manage preventive maintenance schedules for electrical systems, including power distribution units (PDUs), transformers, backup power systems, and mining equipment. Ensure all equipment operates efficiently and reliably. • Oversee and assist in diagnosing and resolving electrical faults, power supply issues, and equipment malfunctions. Lead efforts to reduce downtime by ensuring rapid and effective repairs. • Supervise the maintenance and testing of backup power systems, including battery systems, and generators. Ensure power systems are always available to handle the energy demands. • Monitor and maintain cooling systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and prevent overheating of mining hardware. • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the installation and upgrade of electrical systems to accommodate new mining hardware, increased power demand, or expansion projects. Work with engineers to design and implement optimized power solutions for mining operations. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal electrical codes, company safety protocols, and industry standards (NFPA, NEC, and OSHA). Conduct regular safety inspections and enforce strict adherence to safety procedures. • Maintain an inventory of critical spare parts and tools. • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, equipment performance, electrical usage, and downtime incidents. Generate reports for management on system performance, power consumption, and operational efficiency. • Collaborate with mining engineers, facility management, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with overall operations. Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance and minimize disruptions.
