Apprentice Electrician: Andrews Lone Star Corporation is searching for an Apprentice to assist install, repair and maintain electrical and auxiliary equipment. Looking for a full time candidate with strong worth ethic that takes pride in their work so that can ensure quality work is completed in a safe and timely manner. Daily Activities • Assist the electrician in the various aspects of electrical maintenance, repair and construction. • Prepare and assemble various apparatus required for particular work being performed. • Keep work areas clean and organized. Pickup scrap wire, boxes, and other discarded materials. • Assist with cleaning protective equipment (hot sticks and rubber goods). • Use of various hand and power tools. • Assist with loading of various materials onto trucks and/or trailers. • Must be knowledgeable with the materials needed and process to strip and terminate cables. • Ability to perform duties involving prolonged standing, sitting, crouching and/or stooping. Ability to push, pull, and position tools, equipment, and structural material weighing in excess of 100 pounds. • Ability to accurately read and record meter data. • Comply to all company policies and procedures • Any other duties as assigned Position Requirements • Must have 2 years of electrical experience • Must have valid drivers license • Must be able to pass drug test • Open availability and must be willing to travel as work is subject to stand-by, pre-arranged and/or call-out duty • High School Diploma/GED Benefits Benefits include medical, vision and dental insurance, 401K retirement savings plan, company paid life insurance and paid time off. See More Details >>Duties & Responsibilities • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment • Participate in performing a wide variety of skilled tasks including troubleshooting, reading blueprints, performing diagnostic assessments, and using specialized tool to ensure electrical systems are functioning properly • Work alongside Engineers to inspect electrical components and make recommendations for improvements • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on electrical systems to ensure proper functionality, and identify potential problems • Diagnose electrical faults using testing equipment like voltmeters and identify issues, such as faulty wiring or short circuits • Repair and replace damaged electrical components, wiring, and fixtures • Conduct tests on electrical systems to verify compliance with safety standards, and proper operation • Perform other various tasks as assigned by the Foreman Skills & Specifications • Ability to work independently to accomplish projects and meet deadlines • Comfortable working with the full range of departments across Scout • Strong communication and organization skills • Maintain good housekeeping in all areas • Operating backet truck/Manlift, forklifts, and light industrial equipment • Understanding of electrical theory, circuit analysis, and electrical codes • Ability to use various hand tools; screwdrivers, wire strippers, and various power tools • Ability to identify the root cause of electrical issues, and find solutions • Ensure accurate wiring and connection to maintain system integrity • Ability to work in confined spaces • Capable of lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 50lbs • Ability and willing to work overtime as required • Must possess full physical & manual dexterity including (but not limited to): climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, working with arms extended above the head, twisting upper body, standing for long periods, and exposure to extreme weather conditions Education & Qualifications • 0 to 4 years relevant and recent experience in the operation, maintenance and optimization of electric equipment such as switchgears, recloser’s, Disconnect’s, transformers, Unit panel boxes etc. • Familiar with Production Facilities and their daily operations • Possess a valid driver’s license • Legally authorized to work in the United States • Able to pass a pre-employment drug and background check • Must possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited, state-certified program • Certifications from trade schools and/or professional organizations are preferred
