Job Title: Electrical Engineer Job Description: Supports R&D team to develop, validate, integrate, and successfully launch electrical components and systems to support NPD business customer requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES: • Confer with engineers, customers, suppliers and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products. • Design, implement, maintain, test and improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems. • Operate CAD software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. • Capable of hands-on support of manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes. • Executes research methodology and procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects. • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufactured, construction, and installation standards and specification. • Inspect completed installations and observe operation. • Supports and participates in Morgan Olson’s Lean System processes. • Adheres to Quality policy by exceeding customer expectations, being customer focused and supporting continuous improvement activities. • Adheres to Safety policies and practices behavioral based safety 100% of the time. • Capable of electrical wiring and system problem solving and troubleshooting of electrical components and systems. • Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or two-year technical degree and a minimum of 5 years of practical and relevant experience. • Proven ability to navigate and modify components and assemblies within 3D CAD software. • Familiarity with common problem-solving techniques and tools such as A3, 8D or similar. • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. • Experience with vehicle electrical/HVAC/Wiper systems, software, and vehicle diagnostics is preferred. About the position The Electrical Maintenance Instrument Controls Technician is responsible for maintaining and calibrating instruments and control systems within the Abbott Nutrition Division at the Sturgis, MI plant. This role involves diagnosing and repairing various electrical systems, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and providing support to plant operations. The technician will work independently while adhering to established procedures and protocols. Responsibilities • Familiarize with procedures and execute calibrations for instruments in the calibration program. , • Use calibration standards and diagnostic equipment to diagnose and repair control systems. , • Support primary plant operations including packaging lines, processing, and laboratory equipment. , • Elevate potential equipment problems and improvements to production and maintenance supervisors. , • Work with minimal supervision and follow all plant and department procedures, GMPs, and safety rules. , • Provide excellent customer service to production teams and ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies. Requirements • 2+ years of instrument calibration, automation, or related experience. , • Basic understanding of electricity and electrical theory. , • Working knowledge of computer operating systems and electrical schematics. , • Ability to complete calibration and maintenance records accurately. , • Familiarity with diagnostic, repair, and standard operating procedures. Nice-to-haves • State, federal, or recognized certification in Electrical or Instrumentation. , • Electronics degree. , • Experience with calibration, validation, and installation testing. , • Strong mathematical skills. , • Controls Engineer experience. , • International Society of Automation (ISA) certification.
