ELECTRICIAN II Category: CSEA Department: Campus Facilities Locations: Poughkeepsie, NY Position ID: 193503 DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is an advanced technical and working supervisory position responsible for the design, layout, installation, repair, and evaluation of electrical power systems and equipment. The class differs from that of Electrician I by virtue of supervisory duties and responsibility for planning, coordinating and instructing in large projects. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative employee with considerable leeway for planning and carrying out assignments. Supervision is exercised over assigned employees. Employees are required to report to work as needed to cover emergency situations and to participate in snow and ice control activities. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Typical work activities for incumbents in this title include those listed below in addition to those typical work activities performed by lower level titles in the series. They are indicative of the level and types of activities performed by incumbents in this title. It is not meant to be all inclusive and does not preclude a supervisor from assigning activities not listed which could reasonably be expected to be performed by an employee in this title. • Designs, prepares layouts for, installs, repairs, and evaluates electrical power systems and equipment • Calculates electrical power supplies and usage • Prepares layouts of electrical power distribution lines, relays, transformers, computers, central processing units, air conditioners, heating units, and other systems as required; supervises and participates in the installation, repair, and maintenance of these lines • Analyzes and calculates energy conservation; supervises and participates in the installation of energy conservation equipment • Supervises and participates in the installation of switches relays, motors, temperature controls, and other controls on terminals as required • Supervises and participates in the installation, repair, and maintenance of indoor and outside lighting fixtures and related devices • Supervises and participates in the maintenance and repair of computerized security, fire and control systems • Maintains inventory of materials and equipment; requisitions same when needed; • Keeps records and makes reports of electrical projects • Participates in snow and ice control activities, which may include working overtime hours, reporting to work early, or reporting to work on scheduled days off, in cold and wet conditions • May perform time and attendance functions, performance evaluations, and handle disciplinary problems • With supervision, may meet with contractors in planning projects. Job Requirements: FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology, and safety procedures of the electrical trade; skill in the application of such knowledge in order to plan, lead, coordinate and complete electrical projects; thorough knowledge of the design construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical instruments, devices, and equipment; good knowledge of computerized control systems; working knowledge of energy conservation methods related to the design and operation of electrical systems; ability to work with low potential, high potential, and extra high potential circuits; ability to interpret and apply building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings and to use formulas basic to the trade to determine voltage and resistance; ability to calculate quantities and costs of materials necessary for electrical projects; ability to supervise the work of others; ability to take the lead and give directions in the event of an electrical failure or emergency; dependability; initiative; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Five (5) years of experience in a position involving the performance of electrical repairs and installation, two (2) of which were unsupervised, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. NOTE: No less than two (2) years of unsupervised experience will be accepted. 3rd Class Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

WIN Waste Innovations is looking for an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician who is skilled, detail oriented, and self-motivated individual. The basic function of the E&I Technician is to install, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, calibrate, and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and distributive control equipment throughout the facility in a safe and professional manner. Responsibilities: • Assists with monitoring and maintaining facility equipment (with supervision) to ensure safe and efficient equipment and facility operation. • Performs electrical preventive and repair maintenance procedures safely and professionally with adequate supervision in accordance with Federal and State Regulations, and Company Work Rules, Policies and Procedures. • Initiates and completes work-orders and requisitions and documents all critical and or pertinent information on a routine basis by direction and with supervision/training. • Responds and reports to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required with direct/remote assistance and/or supervision. • Travels to other facilities with-in the Company when technical support is required. • Takes proactive measures to address improvement opportunities. • Performs lesser skilled duties when required or requested. • Completes the Corporate and Plant Training Programs within the time frame prescribed. • Identifies and effectively uses basic and precision measuring tools to calculate and determine lengths, surface areas, and volumes as necessary while performing maintenance tasks on a routine basis. • Follows standard safety procedures, correct safety and environmental hazards, and report them to the Shift Supervisor immediately. Reads, understands, and applies information such as, lockout/tagout procedures, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Works overtime. • Works rotating shifts during outages or if requested. • Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicate clearly whether using in-situ intercom system, two-way radio or face to face. • Anticipates typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and take appropriate action with supervision/training. Troubleshoots equipment, diagnose problems and repair with supervision/training. • Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment. • Maintain positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management. Qualifications: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent. • Licensed Journeyman Electrician or minimum of 2 years' experience in the Electrical Field. Instrumentation experience not required. • Licenses required as necessary to comply with State, Environmental, and/or Federal regulatory agencies or if Electrician, licensed as necessary by State, Environmental, and/or Federal regulatory agencies.
