PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position is responsible for alternating between troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and on the spot machine repair from an electrical perspective. Will also perform necessary installation, repairs and project maintenance on electrical systems associated with hydraulic and pneumatic components. Also focuses on industrial electrical distribution, industrial controls and troubleshooting of electrical systems and devices throughout the facility to ensure safe, efficient operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Install rigid conduit (bending and threading). • Pull wire into raceways. • Termination of wire at components. • Install motor drive devices (Soft Start, VFD, Full Voltage, etc.). • Troubleshoot 480-volt 3-phase electrical distribution systems. • Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment. • Build industrial control panels from schematics and upgrade outdated systems and components as needed. • Understand Arc Flash ratings and recommended practices. • Recommend changes, modifications or upgrades of equipment to improve machine reliability and performance. • Identify and examine production equipment failures to understand root cause analysis. • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements on electric motors, pneumatic diverters, conveyor systems and production machines. • Follow all diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications. • Troubleshoot malfunctions by locating sources of problems, observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems with the equipment and using precision measuring and testing instruments. • Record all maintenance and repair services performed using the Company’s work order software, which also includes keeping track of all materials and parts used during the repair process. • Complete all paperwork accurately to comply with HACCP, tracebility, FS, and quality requirements. • Maintain excellent position regarding GMPs. • Housekeeping responsibilities shall be maintained in all areas including repair job sites throughout the facility. • Responsible for Food Safety and quality. WORK ENVIORNMENT: • The work environment is manufacturing. • Frequently exposed to airborne particles (dust) and/or toxic or caustic chemicals. • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. • Frequently exposed to hot/cold and/or humid conditions. • Frequently works near machinery with moving parts. • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. • Frequently exposed to fumes and risk of electrical shock and vibration. • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: • Electrical Journeyman’s License preferred with at least 5 years of industrial electrical maintenance (preferably in a milling and/or manufacturing environment); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience. • Basic math skills are required. • Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and robotics. • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures. • Basic hydraulics/pneumatics experience required. • Electrical experience (480/110/low voltage) experience is required. • Must have proficient working knowledge and safe use of hand tools and industrial shop tools. • Good verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal customers. • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion. • Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English is required.
