Overview Herzog Railroad Services Inc. is currently seeking a Journeyman Electrician in St Joseph, MO to join our team at our state-of-the-art Rail Car Facility. The pay range for this position is $29 - $38 per hour. Duties and Responsibilities: • This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. • Installing and repairing electrical systems associated with, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic components as needed. • Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. • Other duties as assigned. See More Details >>PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position is responsible for alternating between troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and on the spot machine repair from an electrical perspective. Will also perform necessary installation, repairs and project maintenance on electrical systems associated with hydraulic and pneumatic components. Also focuses on industrial electrical distribution, industrial controls and troubleshooting of electrical systems and devices throughout the facility to ensure safe, efficient operations. Key Responsibilities • Install rigid conduit (bending and threading). • Pull wire into raceways. • Termination of wire at components. • Install motor drive devices (Soft Start, VFD, Full Voltage, etc.). • Troubleshoot 480-volt 3-phase electrical distribution systems. • Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment. • Build industrial control panels from schematics and upgrade outdated systems and components as needed. • Understand Arc Flash ratings and recommended practices. • Recommend changes, modifications or upgrades of equipment to improve machine reliability and performance. • Identify and examine production equipment failures to understand root cause analysis. • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements on electric motors, pneumatic diverters, conveyor systems and production machines. • Follow all diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications. • Troubleshoot malfunctions by locating sources of problems, observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems with the equipment and using precision measuring and testing instruments. • Record all maintenance and repair services performed using the Company’s work order software, which also includes keeping track of all materials and parts used during the repair process. • Complete all paperwork accurately to comply with HACCP, tracebility, FS, and quality requirements. • Maintain excellent position regarding GMPs. • Housekeeping responsibilities shall be maintained in all areas including repair job sites throughout the facility. • Responsible for Food Safety and quality.
