Location All locations Department Facilities Days and Hours Mon-Fri 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Requisition Number Job Description POSITION GOALS • Qualified Journeyman Electrician will report directly to the Building Operations Manager and will perform a variety of skilled tasks for maintenance, repair, upgrade and installation of electrical systems in order to ensure comfortable and efficient on-campus spaces for teaching and learning that contribute to student success. • Qualified Journeyman Electrician will remain consistent with Camden County College's acknowledgement of the inherent value and dignity of all individuals by creating and nurturing a learning and working environment that affirms and leverages our community's traditions, heritages, perspectives, and experiences. Essential Functions • Maintain and make operating repairs to all electrical equipment, appliances, kitchen equipment, alarm systems, lighting circuits, receptacles, etc. • Troubleshoot and repair all single-phase, three-phase, 110 thru 480-volt circuits, as well as 24-volt low voltage circuits. • Perform electrical shut downs and arrange for back-up power for devices as needed. • Install computer lines for network applications. • Repair motor control units, switch gears, transformers, photo-electric sensors, parking lot lighting, light fixtures, flood lights, circuit breaker box meter separations, and interior and exterior lighting. • Design, install and repair new and old wiring and air conditioning electrical wiring. • Observe any deficiencies in or around the buildings and report them to the Director. • Provide preventive and predictive maintenance for power tools, equipment, motors, gauges, emergency generators, compressors, etc. on a regular basis. • Maintain records of completed projects with cost data, time data and other records as deemed necessary. • Read and use architectural and engineering blueprints for electrical installations. • Responsible for predictive maintenance on all electrical equipment, based on gathering data over a period of time to quickly find the root cause of problems. • Responsible for following a Preventative Maintenance Program for daily and seasonal maintenance, checklists, evaluation and inspection of equipment. • Properly care for and maintain all power and hand tools. • Maintain in a neat and orderly fashion all tools, equipment, vehicles and maintenance supplies. • Keep work area neat, clean and orderly. • Perform any maintenance as required or directed. • Must be able and willing to work the hours necessary to meet the demands of an ever-changing workload or the completion of any assigned project(s). • Must be accessible by phone twenty-four (24) hours a day and seven (7) days a week as essential personnel; capable of responding to calls for assistance and providing support 24/7 in a timely manner. (Within one hour). • Must be able to perform snow removal in and around all college buildings, roadways on various campuses. • Must be able to work with snow shovels, snow blowers, snow brushes, snow plows and other snow removal or ice remediation equipment. This work will require at times, early morning starts, extended hours, and weekend duty. Work may occur during the course of a regular shift, off shift and holidays. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • State of New Jersey Electrical Contractor's License (preferred) or State of New Jersey Qualified Journeyman Electrician Certification. • Minimum of one (1) year of directly related commercial/industrial electrical experience preferred. • Ability to climb ladders and lift and carry 75 pounds. • Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports. • High School diploma or equivalent. • Valid driver's license.
