Electrical Design Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Location: Central, NJ Duration: Full Time Responsibilities: • Design microprocessor-based control systems for electro-mechanical products from concept to manufacturing release, including Firmware development, digital and analog circuits design, and creation of Printed Circuit Boards layouts and Wire/Cable Assemblies. Improve current product designs. • Generate and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, reports, design drawings, Gerber files, BOMs, etc. • Develop design plans and specifications aligned with functional requirements and budget constraints. • Utilize computer-aided engineering and design tools to efficiently perform engineering tasks. • Develop test specifications and conduct design verification testing to ensure compliance with performance requirements. • Coordinate and schedule pre-compliance and agency compliance testing, including CE and UL certifications. • Provide technical support and guidance to engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams. • Stay updated with new technologies, methodologies, and industry standards, contributing to continuous improvement efforts through efficient design procedures. • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as requested by the Supervisor or Manager. Qualifications: • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities with timely delivery. • Minimum of five years of experience in product development and design of electro-mechanical microprocessor-based products within a manufacturing environment. • Experience designing products with ARM-based microcontrollers, particularly the STM32 family, is advantageous. • Proficiency in embedded software development using C and C++. • Experience designing Rs-232, RS-485, Ethernet, and USB communication products. • Familiarity with integrating color LCD touch-screen displays into product designs; working knowledge of TouchGFX is beneficial. • Working knowledge of open and closed-loop control systems for stepper and DC motors, closed-loop control systems using feedback process variables such as temperature, pressure, and airflow. • Experience designing products with optical sensors. • Proficiency in PCB design software, preferably Altium Designer, with a solid understanding of electronic components, circuit theory, signal and power integrity, and thermal management. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, industry standards (like IPC), simulation tools, and regulatory compliance. • Experience troubleshooting and debugging electronic-based products and systems. So what does a Silvi Materials Industrial Electrician do? • Field Installation/Knowledge of power and control wiring • Maintenance of related electrical parts, equipment, and machinery including electric motors, network switches, AC/DC systems, PLC’s and Timer Relays • Working with 4-20MA Controls, 120V, 240V and 480V Power • Capable of threading/bending 2” rigid pipe • Capable of installing and terminating conduit wire, cable, equipment, panels, sensors, and various control components and devices • Capable of installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining electrical control circuits for motors and control devices for various electrical devices • Comfortable working independently as well as in a crew • Capable of determining materials needed to complete task • Long term problem solving of repeat concerns and production interference Repair of high voltage boxes • Work assignments carried out in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) Qualifications Required as a Silvi Materials Industrial Electrician: • Minimum of 3 year’s experience required as an Electrician or related field • 5 year’s experience or more preferred as an Electrician or related field • Completion of a technical school in an electrical technology career school or program highly preferred • Valid Driver’s License • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manual using diagram schematics and parts manuals. • POE camera experience highly preferred • Knowledge and experience with safety regulations (i.e. OSHA, MSHA) are a plus, but not required. • Ability to work independently and with urgency to complete assignments. • Ability to work outdoors, in all weather conditions.
