Key Responsibilities • Excavation & Trenching: Support safe trenching and excavation for utility and foundation installation. • Pipe Installation: Install and align water, storm, and sewer piping to grade and project specifications. • Above-Grade Process Piping: Assist with mechanical piping, supports, and hangers in exposed or elevated areas. • Utility Construction: Place bedding, install precast structures, perform leak tests, and complete pipe connections. • Rebar Installation: Measure, cut, tie, and place reinforcing steel for slabs and structural concrete. • Concrete Placement & Finishing: Help place, vibrate, screed, broom, float, and trowel concrete. • Equipment Operation: Operate skid steers, compactors, trench rollers, and other light equipment as assigned. • Grade Verification: Utilize levels, rods, and string lines to check trench and pipe grades. • Tool Use & Maintenance: Operate saws, mixers, hand tools, and job-specific equipment safely. • Jobsite Maintenance: Keep work areas organized, clean, and free of hazards for inspections or next-phase work. • Team Support: Collaborate with crew members, foremen, and operators to maintain safety, quality, and production goals. Qualifications & Skills • 2+ years of experience in sitework, underground utilities, concrete, or mechanical piping. • Proficient with pipe laying, rebar tying, concrete finishing, and basic process piping tasks. • Light equipment operating experience (skid steer, plate compactor, trench roller) required. • Familiar with trench safety, layout tools, and construction drawings (preferred). • Valid driver's license required; Class A CDL preferred but not required. • Must be reliable, safety-focused, and able to follow instructions in a fast-paced field environment. Education & Certifications • High school diploma or GED (preferred). • OSHA 10/30, trench safety, or confined space certifications (preferred). • Work Environment & Physical Requirements: • Outdoor work in all weather conditions on uneven and active excavation sites. • Must be able to lift 75+ lbs, bend, kneel, climb, and work on feet for extended periods. • May work in confined spaces or elevated areas depending on project needs.
