DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will engage in advanced electrical work at a journey level, focusing on the installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of various electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures. Your responsibilities will include identifying and rectifying power outages and short circuits, as well as replacing 110/220 volt circuit breakers as necessary. You will be tasked with running new electrical lines as directed and laying out and installing electrical conduits for both power and lighting applications. This will involve measuring, cutting, threading, and bending rigid and thin-wall conduit to meet the requirements of diverse electrical projects. Additionally, you will install both open and concealed wiring, along with lighting fixtures, which includes the installation of new and existing fluorescent and LED fixtures, and replacing ballasts when needed. Your role will also encompass replacing single and three-way switches and receptacles, as well as installing and servicing air conditioning units, whether they are new or older models. Proficiency in reading blueprints to install wiring according to specifications is essential, and you will be responsible for preparing material lists for each assigned task. As a lead worker, you will oversee assigned helpers throughout various phases of the work, ensuring that tools and equipment are maintained in optimal condition. This includes performing preventive maintenance and minor repairs, such as cleaning, oiling, and adjusting tools. Adherence to the DMVA's general safety rules and specific safety protocols for this role is crucial; you will be expected to promptly report any workplace injuries or incidents to your supervisor and address or report any safety hazards in the work area. Work Schedule and Additional Information: • Full-time employment • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: • Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or • Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirement: • This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license. Additional Requirements: • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
